Considering a purchase. Price opinions?

Ok, so I've been searching for an 06 Elise w/ LSD for autocross, and I found one down in CA which seems to fit the bill.

06 BRG - Brand new (like 20 miles or something)
LSD
Sport Package
A/C

No other options. They are asking $45K. Does this sound like a reasonable price? Seems OK given the other cars I've looked at...

Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks for your help!

You can buy a used Exige with a few more miles for that price... For 45K or less, I'd buy an Exige(I did) or a used elise and modify it. I'd bet that car with 1,000 miles could be had for mid to high 30's.

That price seems fair to me for a new car. I'm guessing MSRP on that car is near $50,000. Keep in mind though, the car will depreciate quickly once you drive it off the lot (as with any new car).

Ah, ah! You said Death first!

The problem seems to be that a used 06 with LSD and sport pack is difficult to find. I've had a specialty car dealer looking for the past few weeks and they haven't come up with much.

Clearly, an Eddie Izzard fan deserves to be driving a Lotus. Good luck with that.

In 2-06, I got my new '05 Elise with a $52.5k MSRP for $46k. I think you are probably close to that. I doubt I could have gotten them much lower than that.

There are certainly fiscal advantages to buying used, but for me, there was some satisfaction in knowing that the car had never been a demo or in the hands if someone who may or may not have been a responsible owner.

Check the inventory at Gonzaba www.gonzabaautoplex.com
They had 2 2006's in black at good prices and I believe at least one of them had LSD.

Garage
I saw this car at their website when looking get mine.
Coincidentally, for this very price I got 2006 BRG with LSD, Touring and Hardtop delivered to my door. With 20 miles on odometer.
I considered that one for a while but looks of door panels in the pictures convinced me to go with touring option.

Matt

The prices of the Exiges have seemed to level off right around $46K-$49K. I've been following them for a while and they did plumet when the S came out (like the MSRP is $59K, but they sell new for like $50K), but like I said it has leveled off. I have only seen a couple hit $45K.

Even the 05 Elises seem to have leveled off as well, they went straight down to $35K, and now they are all just sitting right around there. I honestly thought they would $30K by now, but it looks like it might be a while.
