Latest '08 Elise/Exige info....

from reliable sources indicates that there will be a s/c (220 HP) Elise for 2008.

I was told that there will be owner loyalty money for 2005 owners only -- different $ amount depending on the 2008 model to be purchased.

Finally, it appears that there may be two Exige S models for 2008 -- the standard version (220 HP) and the upgraded version with 240 HP, big brakes, extended roof scoop etc. This last bit of info regarding two versions of the Exige S is still somewhat up in the air according to my sources.

Looks like there will be lots of s/c Loti from the factory in the future.

Was talking to a few Lotus owner about this over the weekend. Pretty much what I'd guess was going to happen. Well not the incentive part for the '05 owner. Yup, it's got me to thinking about a upgrade to a '08 Elise... but not sure in my case it'll be enough to pull the trigger. But I will look into it.

so will the elise be called the elise S or what?

so from what you are saying it's looking like
elise = 220 hp
exige s = 220hp
exige s= 240hp

what is the incentive from going to an exige s from an elise.. especially since many people consider the elise a nicer looking car..

Still a Sector111 SC that gives 217 rwHp seems a lot better of a bargain than Lotus's 220 Crank Hp. Also I bet Sector's $5K price will be cheaper.

The elise S in europe is the "cheaper" (1zz-ge?) version of the elise R
Yet the exige S is the "pricier" exige in the US. This doesn't make any sense.

Best way to simplify it would be something like this I think:
Elise S (190hp), Elise R (220hp)
Exige S (220hp), Exige R (240hp)

No can do. Overhere we have:

Elise S (140hp), Elise R (190hp)
Exige R (190hp), Exige S (220hp)
240R is gone already too

Maybe something like GT (not GT3) is an option for the newer models. Or the marketing guys make something up again as on my car:

Exige S British GT Special Edition GT Pack.... Glad they didn't put that on the sticker.

Well it's obvious isn't it?

The Elise is moving backwards... S... R... so the next logical name would be:

Elise Q

While the Exige is moving forwards... R... S... so the next one will be:

Exige T

Either that or someone at Lotus HQ is VERY dyslexic...

We now return to our previous silliness...

I personally like the concept of the elise being at 220 hp as a base model in the US..

Now what they should do is offer an elise that also has 240hp..

the hp needs to keep going up.. an elise with 300hp is a VERY fast and exciting prospect.. and it would help sell these 50k+ cars a little easier I would think..

Didn't we already see pictures of the 2008 SC Elise from ducatiexigeowner?

The only question left is the retrofit kit, which i'm less than convinced will happen.

Black Exige S / Elan M100. Don't run a smaller pulley without an upgraded fuel pump! http://www.goth.am ecu stuff.. New reflash box coming soon!

No way they will offer a retrofit kit before the new SC Elise Sales have fallen.

Only problem is that the Sector111 SC is "track only"?

Now I guess many of us Elise owners know a bit how the Exige owners felt when the ExigeS was announced.

Wonder if the price of new Elise's will remain relatively the same as 2007s, or they'll be significantly higher due to the added SC?

I think the elise for what you GET (minimal interior etc.) is expensive at 50k (even though it is an exotic and I understand that concept) a SC car with 220+ HP will help sell the car at it's current 50k pricepoint.. I think raising the price is a mistake unless they offer something over 260hp

Jack, I was just going to post this and you beat me to it.

He is 100% correct guys.

For the incentives, Lotus will be mailing out certificates to all 2005 Elise owners of record. To use it, you must still own the Elise, the dealer must make a copy of your current state registration and mail it in to Lotus with the filled out certificate.

Here are the loyalty program details:

$2,000.00 = Purchase a 2008 190 HP Elise or any MY 2007 or MY 2006 Lotus Vehicle (MY 2008 vehicles subject to availability).

$3,000.00 = Purchase a 2008 220 HP Elise or Exige S (Subject to vehicle availability)

$4,000.00 = Purchase a 2008 240 HP Exige S (subject to vehicle availability)

Once you buy your new Lotus, you will also receive a coupon redeemable for $200.00 worth of Lotus mechandise from the on-line Lotus Cars USA Web Store.

Based on the above, there will be an '08 220 HP SC Elise and Exige; and there will be an '08 240 HP SC Exige.

This tells me that the 240 Exige will cost a pretty penny more than the 220 Exige S since they will still offer the 220 HP Exige S.

So all you guys with an S model Exige, I don't think it will be devalued as much now since the 240 will definetely be a significant price increase (maybe around $5 to $6K is my estimate).

2009 Mini Cooper JCW - Dark Silver/Black - sport suspension/cold weather package
2008 997 GT3 - Carrara White/Black - PCCB's - 350 lbs of weight reduction

Past Lotus Cars: 2005 NFB Elise, 2007 CO Exige S, 2005 AR Elise, 2008 CO Exige S 240

For now, its going in for CARB approval though, which is retroactive if it gets approved.

I can't imagine the price being much different from the S, I also wonder if this is the new all CAN bus based ECU version, that'll give me something to do on these long winter nights.

I suppose if its the same ecu, you could theoretically install the 240 S version into the 2007 S version and still be CARB.
