four models, twenty colors and about twelve prospects in the U.S. market who haven't already bought. no wonder they're offering "loyalty" incentives.

How about renaming it to Elise SXY?

2005 Lotus Elise - ForcedFed 340, now at 15 psi and needing dyno for results.
2002 Ford Focus SVT - 4.6L V8 RWD conversion, twice the cylinders and half the sense.

So all you guys with an S model Exige, I don't think it will be devalued as much now since the 240 will definetely be a significant price increase (maybe around $5 to $6K is my estimate).
20 hp doesn't validate a "pretty penny" in my book but we'll see how far lotus thinks they can rape the consumer..

personally I would say a company like GIAC should crack the ECU code in the exige S and find a way to get 60-80hp out of it like they can do with other FI cars.. and they do all this for under 1k

I just spend 800.00 getting my audi TT modified to 265hp (40hp gain)... and when I look at how much companies charge for something as small as 20hp I get a little nauseaus..

so how about it? anyone crack the ECU yet in the exige S?

I can't see lotus selling all these cars. How many more people can there be in North America that are willing to spend 50K on a stripped out racer?

Please explain. You mean because you are getting another $4,000.00 back? Do you have an '05 Elise to qualify? The pricing will not be out until Novemebr. The 240 hp Exige S will probably be more than we all thought since they will continue with the 220 HP Exige S for '08.

2008 997 GT3 - Carrara White/Black - PCCB's - 350 lbs of weight reduction

Past Lotus Cars: 2005 NFB Elise, 2007 CO Exige S, 2005 AR Elise, 2008 CO Exige S 240

Then why on earth would someone buy a 2008 exige s-240 when they can get a 2007 exige s-220 used and then chip it to 290hp? (this seems correct as they are getting 250RWHP from that forcefed upgrade) for under 5k?

so find yourself a 50k exige S next spring (or cheaper).. chip it for 4k.. then be FASTER than a new 70k+ exige S 240 in 2008?

save over 20k..

makes sense to me..

then again I would be MORE excited about a supercharged elise with 250 RWHP.. that would be the ticket there I think.. for me love the looks of the elise..

Maybe, But I am sure there are plenty that will spend for a used one, All I know is I am getting one no matter, but I am not sure I will trade in. The only problem I really see and maybe its not really a problem but lets just say 30% of owners of 05-06 trade in, wouldn't that hurt the resale because couldn't it flood the market with used ones?

I am an 05 owner and I will not be making use of the coupon. First year depreciation is way too bad for 30 more hp for me to buy again. Here's hopeing for NA elises only.

warranty issues mostly, some are stock queens, various reasons.

this would be the only year i probably won't upgrade i'm pretty happy with my S at 235RWHP the only thing i plan to add is the bigger brakes, i'd like the mohawk too, but thats not a deal breaker.

I doubt you'd see a 250RWHP elise for the road with the 2zz-ge.

The only question left is the retrofit kit, which i'm less than convinced will happen.
The Exige retrofit kit has been available for a while. Per Lotus, there's two options:
1. trade in for an Exige S
2. go to parts counter with a long list and order everything you need and install it yourself with no support from Lotus (voiding your drivetrain warranty in the process)

torque (trk) n. - an excuse for the lack of momentum.
- let's bring back CanAm & Group B!
- have you hugged your Exige today?
I'm currently working on my performance driving merit badge.
There's always somebody faster, sometimes it's me.
