personally I would say a company like GIAC should crack the ECU code in the exige S and find a way to get 60-80hp out of it like they can do with other FI cars.. and they do all this for under 1k

I just spend 800.00 getting my audi TT modified to 265hp (40hp gain)... and when I look at how much companies charge for something as small as 20hp I get a little nauseaus..

so how about it? anyone crack the ECU yet in the exige S?
APR/GIAC/Upsolute makes more power by turning up the boost on the turbo 1.8T/2.0T cars electronically with a reflash/chip. That might be kind of hard with a s/c.

it's not as simple as that.. they do 911 tt's as well.. it always involves a little hardware too, my audi tt had to get some new installs put in to handle the boost..

look at the mustang cobra.. that thing is INSANE with just a few mods to it's supercharger.. over 500hp easily..

grand national? hehe

I'm sure more can be done w this supercharger..

it's not only a matter of what can be done with the supercharger, but it's also important what the engine can handle.

this is already a highly stressed, high compression, low displacement engine. there is much less left to get out of it, without making serious changes to it.

the examples you use are all very different.

I hear you masheen..

but my little audi tt is 225hp turbo engine.. I think it's 1.8l engine and now it is producing 265hp..

why can't the elise's little engine push out 265hp?

Havent there been tests w that engine on other cars pushing out far more hp.. what about how forcefed accomplishes it?

Well, the Audi motor was built with turbocharging in mind, it's a stouter motor. For one thing, the Audi motor's compression ratio is 9:1 or so as opposed to the 11.something:1 of the Toyota engine. There's a lot more room to play with there before things go kaboom.

Loyalty incentive cash back seems like a great idea to encourage current 2005 Elise owners to upgrade to a newer car. I see a problem where the 2005 Elise will be traded in on the new car. I can't wait to see how poor the trade-in value on these cars will be from the dealers.

I personally think it will be a far smarter deal to keep the older Elise and get it supercharged with one of the current or future kits moving to market. A shop here in Tampa is preparing to install one of the Sector 111 kits into a 2005 Elise. I plan on getting my 2006 Elise supercharged as soon as my car moves off warranty next year. I'll end up with a fantastic car that is paid off, modified exactly how I like.

I'm glad Lotus is looking to the future in improving the line. Lotus should, however work on trying to bring in new owners to the marque and not just resell to its loyal following.

He is 100% correct guys.

For the incentives, Lotus will be mailing out certificates to all 2005 Elise owners of record. To use it, you must still own the Elise, the dealer must make a copy of your current state registration and mail it in to Lotus with the filled out certificate.

Here are the loyalty program details:

$2,000.00 = Purchase a 2008 190 HP Elise or any MY 2007 or MY 2006 Lotus Vehicle (MY 2008 vehicles subject to availability).

$3,000.00 = Purchase a 2008 220 HP Elise or Exige S (Subject to vehicle availability)

$4,000.00 = Purchase a 2008 240 HP Exige S (subject to vehicle availability)

Once you buy your new Lotus, you will also receive a coupon redeemable for $200.00 worth of Lotus mechandise from the on-line Lotus Cars USA Web Store.

Based on the above, there will be an '08 220 HP SC Elise and Exige; and there will be an '08 240 HP SC Exige.

This tells me that the 240 Exige will cost a pretty penny more than the 220 Exige S since they will still offer the 220 HP Exige S.

So all you guys with an S model Exige, I don't think it will be devalued as much now since the 240 will definetely be a significant price increase (maybe around $5 to $6K is my estimate).
My question is... Are we required to trade in our 05 Elise to use the coupon?

That is mine as well...If all you need is the 05, you can buy with the coupon and then sell your 05 privately - or turn it into a track car.

In other news, breaking the 200 HP barrier will probably sell a few more cars in and of itself. It shouldn't but for a lot of folks 210 sounds significantly better than 190. If I was Lotus, I'd have rated the damn thing at 202 all along...

Does their website still say "Arriving Fall 2003" or only list the existance of the Elise and n/a Exige.

No you do not need to trade your '05.

The promotion begins on November 1st; I would bet they are mailing out the coupons soon.

Question for Charlie X

1. You really can't squeeze a bunch more HP out of an Exige S just by ecu changes, can you? Wouldn't you need a different pulley?

2. Is there a HP difference between the 2005 Sector 111 SC kit and the 2006/7 ?

I'm not Charlie but I believe he has already posted the following:

1) ~30 RWHP more out of the S by only doing ECU tuning -- see the Gotham project dyno chart on the Sector 111 website.

2) 2005 and 2006 (DBW) cars are about the same -- he my have squeezed a few HP more out of the 2006.....very close and the difference could be attributed to different dynos/different conditions.

I think the exige S needed more than 220hp anyway.. these numbers are all just too small folks.. for a car that hits 70k it better be hitting 300hp and the sooner lotus gets to this number the better..

Based on the dyno numbers for the base Elise and the '07 S, the S was putting out more tha 220 crank HP. The dyno numbers revealed ~40-45 more RWHP for the S over the n/a Elise/Exige.
