1971 Europa seat removal

I’m new to the Lotus hobby. Anyone with advice? I want to avoid just cutting the bolts. Do you have any tips?

Are your seat runners free of rust and the seat capable of moving front to back? The Europa seats are secured with four bolts through the seat runners and fiberglass floor pan and held by washers and nuts under the bottom. You can access the front two bolts by moving the seat all the way back. For the back two bolts, move the seat all the way forwards.

If the runners are completely rusted solid which is pretty likely if water got into the cabin for any length of time you may have to get creative.

I can get at the front bolts from inside. The seats won’t slide forward. So yes It may be a problem getting to the rear bolts from inside the car. Are they “regular bolts” any issue with cutting them? Thanks for the reply.

My drivers seat came out as discussed. To remove the passenger seat I just ground off the bolts from under the car as the tracks were frozen.

It's easiest to just grind them off and then when you replace the bolts larger bolts can be used with larger back washers.Removing the Lotus Europa S2 seats | Lotus Europa S2

Thanks for the help, I was able to free the seat adjuster up. Seats successfully removed! Any idea about the “initials” scrawled on the seat backs? Wonder who those blokes were?

Great you got the seats out. The bloke that signed your seat on the left also signed one of my seats. What car number is yours? My S2 is 0496R.
