electronic ignition vs points

Was thinking about going to electronic ignition during the rebuilt of the seven. Does anyone have an opinion on what is better? and is the conversion fairly simple if it is a good idea.

Put a Pertronix in my twin cam Europa. No regrets. Anything you can do to make the car a tad more reliable is a good thing.

I have Pertronix in the Elan and the Europa. Nothing against points, but accessibility to the distributor on the Twin Cam is not great! The Pertronix works very well and reliably. Conversion is really simple!
What engine do you have? Pushrod Ford I imagine?

Yes, ford cosworth 116E. Is there a particular version that works better than others. Do you also recommend the coil to go with it?

I also have the Pertronix ignition and I got the coil that goes with it. That would be my recommendation.

I used the original Ignitor, with a Lucas Sports coil in one instance and a Bosch Blue coil in the other. As long as you have a good coil with a 3ohm minimum resistance in the primary wiring you're good to go.
These engines are not high-revving screamers and need a good spark up to 7000 rpm or so. If you already have such a coil, go with it. If not, the Pertronix seems as good as any.
