Just how many Type 75 are left in the states?

Hi Everyone, I own a 77' Elite 503 that I've been working on for the last couple years. To my amazement, I found out that there are two more right here in my home town of Wellsboro, PA a town of only 3,000 people.

The owner has come down with Parkinson's and I have an opportunity to purchase these two. Both are 503 Elite's a 74' and a 77'. Both are red and need of work.

My big question is how many are left here? I've scoured the internet without much luck. The best I've found was from a fellow named Dunc on TLF. As of a few years ago he new of 9 registered in the entire country.

I'm thinking I'm going to take a leap of faith and buy these two and do something with them not sure what yet. Lol, but I just can't see letting them go.

One had an engine fire that burned up a whole bunch of wiring, the other is in running order but hasn't been used in 10 years. They come with a pile of parts, some hot cams, Dellorto's , rare performance intake etc. Interiors are in very good condition, headlights are even staying down on the one.

Any one have a feel for these as far as marketability?

BTW I've just had the seats redone for my Blue 77'. Both front and rears, they came out awesome.

Kenny

I have no idea how many Elites are still on the road in North America, but 305 Federal spec Elites were built. The Federal cars also served several other countries that also had strict emissions standards at the time, so something less than 305 actually came to this side of the pond. Even if you find a 'registry', that will only capture those few owners who know about it and bother to register.

Last year there was a brown one for sale a little north of me. I was tempted, but I don't have room for another car.

The Elite is not an investment car. If you like the car, buy it; but don't do it with the intention of flipping it for a profit.

Good luck,
Tim Engel
