There ya go, it would be appropriate for the person who wants to collect every variation on the Europa, or the person who is collecting the designs of WIlliam Towns.

The Dino replica was also mentioned in the same book discussed above ( link above provides addition link to scanned pictures from same). The body was apparently done from molds taken from the real thing. I don't really see the point, but someone apparently wanted it.

Having just returned from Europe I found the GS Europa forum regarding the GS Europa. Having built a number of racecars I thought I would modify a Europa, the Esprit was still some way off production, and got in touch with my friend William Towns, who had worked with me before. I approached GS Cars in Bristol and sales manager Alistair Fraser liked the idea, so he found a somewhat tired Europa and we used this as the basis. As my Lotus connections went back to Hornsey days I talked to Colin Chapman about the idea and received encouragement to proceed. Nearer the 1975 Earls Court Motor Show I had a phone call from Colin asking if the car could be finished in time to be exhibited on the Telegraph styling stand as he only had the prototype Esprit which naturally he wanted to have on the Lotus stand. Much midnight oil was burnt and the car was delivered to Earls Court.

More to come latter.

Interesting thread. I have always loved the front of the Europa, but that bread wagon tail I can't stand. It is all fiberglass and there is certainly room to lower the rear deck if you don't care about the trunk space. So I photoshop'ed a Dino styled rear-end on to one and I like it. I would totally build and drive that if I had the time.

I also thought of the Merak but the front reminded of the TVR Tasmin. Ugly...TC Europas are cool and fine just the way they
are, Had 3 of them, 2 of them I should not have sold. Got my eyes on another one though. Lotus disease is ever present...

The car in question offends me. Better to buy an Esprit.
