Green things are popping out of the ground, Spring can't be too far away.

Risking a talk with the Law I drove the wounded Elise to the body shop 5 miles away on Hoosiers in afternoon traffic. Pretending to be sorta invisible. Hopefully back to track in a month, maybe two. We'll see.

So half the home garage is open! We retrieved the Europa from her Winter storage bin a mile away. Of course had to jump her off, not too bad. Drove maybe 20 miles with my son in his S4 Audi. He's new to his license, so our first time ever driving about as a pair. Pretty cool. Uh, he had the jumper cables and live battery.

She's back in the garage by the Evora now, battery on tender. Might snow next week, but the sports car season is underway!

I've washed/detailed 4380r. Over the winter installed GPS speedometer/odometer; installed new heater fan; rewired ammeter; installed new fuel sending unit; installed Pertronix electronic ignition; refinished OEM wheels and mounted Kumho Solus tires; installed solid float chambers on the Stromberg carbs; acquired OEM jack and tool kit (the former needs refinishing); installed the Elige 'between seats' net in rear boot; changed oil/filter; replaced brake fluid and coolant, checked timing; adjusted carbs; etc...

Finished up the rear brake job. Replaced drums, shoes, springs, cylinders.

But it's raining and going to for days, so no test drive yet

But did get her off the stands, started her up, vroomm, vrooommmm.
Rolled back and forth maybe 8 feet. Exciting progress. See you at LOG.

Actually there was another Twink on the road yesterday just outside of Winston-Salem. It's my \semi-daily when it's not too hot in NC\ driver. Just coming of a rebuild of the TwinCam engine.

3,000 miles in 7 days in M100 Elan!

Just completed a getaway vacation with wife in our Lotus with zero problems and 100% satisfaction. covered eight (8) states from NJ to upper peninsula of Michigan, down through to Iowa and back home. Got just over 30 MPG and only used 1/8 quart of oil the whole trip. Can you top that?

Beautiful M100. My M100 is going through some fiberglass work right now trying to get it painted as soon as possible. The rear bumper is off at the moment getting it ready for paint. I'm also tracking down those hood seals that are impossible to find but I have found most of them. I want it painted first and then I'll get a new hood because I always drive it with the hood down so the hood is not a huge deal to me. Mine is Calypso Red and has been upgraded with team dynamic wheels, better front brakes, piper 2.25 exhaust, Elise S1 steering wheel conversion and Everest chip. So its not stock like yours. I always wonder how many federal M100's there are still and who owns one on LotusTalk.

An indie who takes care of my Mercedes (currently 4 of 'em) in Winston-Salem, David Adkins of Foreign Car Repair. He works primarily on German cars but likes to have a real challenge now and then and works on the Lotus. He's done all the work on the Lotus because I only know how to make things worse when I try to do anything myself. The engine rebuild is only the latest. He has replaced the Strombergs with Weber 32/36's, restored the front and back ends - bushings, roll bar. brakes, new springs and AVO shocks from Banks. The engine rebuild included the bottom end, oversize pistons, water pump - just about everything up to but not including the camshafts. The clutch also needed some work. He does great work at a reasonable price but I'm sure I get a friends and family discount now

Nice.

Well last evening we trailered Black Beauty back home from my office five miles away. The rear brakes were basically seized, smoked a bit. Not drums red locked up but way too tight. She would hardly move. Was tough getting on and off the trailer. Bummer. But sure glad I have a trailer and could do it all myself.

But this afternoon fully back to normal. So I'm thinking master cylinder, plunger or whatever it's called froze up, cooled or something and returned.

Main issue is that we live less than 10 miles from the LOG site at Biltmore. A drag (pun?) to maybe trailer her there but we will be there! Not sure when or if whatever happened might again

Sorry to hear about your troubles,XHILR8N!. I'm sure you'll get it fixed up soon. If you need to rebuild your M/C, I got mine done at White Post Restorations. They turned mine around in a week. I'll be going to the LOG so I hope we meet.

I have been driving my Europa lately now that I've got it pretty much together. I don't have pictures of the things I've done so you'll just have to believe me but I do have a couple of pictures of the car (sadly before I washed and waxed it).

Today, the bit thing was adjusting the passenger door. I think I've got it pretty good. It took a lot of trial and error. Somehow I got the driver's door pretty much perfect!

You can see my new aluminum radiator with new fan in one of the pictures. I'm also wrestling with a Smiths electronic speedo. I think (hope) my main problem is that the mount I built for the sensor is not sturdy enough so I'll be looking for something more substantial to build a new one.

She surely looks good there Chris. I remember you were unable to get her to LOG a year ago. So what is the status of your car now?

Car is doing great, still keeping a close eye on the engine but right now everything is good. Going to do some winter maintenance on it next month.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is an annual tradition, but I like to take the Europa once or twice a year when I'm going to play hockey.

Well, it was a crisp and sunny day today so I loaded my gear and sticks into the passenger seat and off I went to the rink. Had a reasonable drive (about 10 or 11 miles each way), good game, spent some time BSing with the guys, and drove back home. Since it was a sunny day, I could even drive with the windows open to ventilate the hockey equipment. In fact, it was so much fun that I'll do it again for the game tomorrow.
