Long time Googler of the forums but first time in this section, thank you to everyone who has posted, responded, and followed up over the years!
My 2005 Elise with Vision Function SC has a short somewhere or something else. I apologize in advance as electrical is not my strong point
Symptoms- The car starts every time, the CEL codes below are a new addition.
Start the car, drive it around the block and it is in limp mode, it will hit 2000-3000 rpms before power just cuts out then re-engages (this does not happen in reverse?!). it looks like someone learning to drive a clutch for the first time as it throws me forwards then kicks in then throws me forwards again
If the car is not in gear it does let me rev to about 4k before the shift light comes on (same symptoms cold or warmed up)
I have cleaned an re-seated the ground connector down behind the driver on the firewall, battery connections are solid and report a consistent voltage, alternator connection looks solid and are screwed in. Voltage with car off is about 12.4v, with car running about 13.8v.
CEL codes- they went away briefly after replacing the fuse and came back about 10 feet later. Haven't checked fuse yet but it's probably blown again causing these codes. These codes were not present the first day the limping began (only took it around the block when it did start)
P0076 Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit Low 4
P0508 Idle Air Control System Circuit Low 35
P0444 Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit Open 31
P0447 Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit Open 31
P2648 A Rocker Arm Actuator Control Circuit Low 42
per the thread below I found that fuse R6 was blown making me believe there is a short (or exposed wire at any rate).
There really doesn't seem like there is much to the wiring harness and I would like to avoid replacing the whole thing to get back up and running
Are there known rub points where I should start? I am not sure which wiring diagram I should be looking for, help?
