Broken hazard switch = non-functioning signal lights?

My Elise hazard switch broke while replacing the OEM console with a CF version. I notice that with or without the broken switch in place my signal lights don't work at all. I checked both the hazard and turn signal fuses and they are okay.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for my switch replacement to arrive and I wish I could drive the car. Will a broken hazard switch really cause the TSIs to malfunction, and is there a work-around to drive without the hazard lights?

Thanks

I'll answer my own question. I finally found some missing pieces from the broken switch and was able to reassemble it well enough to plug it back in to the socket. Bingo! The TSIs worked!
