Speed and fuel all come through CAN... so does the oil light...

The only thing you're going to tap to with the Dash two behind the cluster is turn signal, high beams, brake warning light (which is backwards, BTW), power, and headlight...

Speed, RPM, fuel, etc will either come via OBD-2 or similar interface, or just going directly to the sensor in question and rob the signal for the Dash 2... I did the dash2 install years ago on my car with parallel sensor robbing. I think RT has a device to make the connection to the OE canbus now. I suggest calling Al at RT to see what he says about that...

Cheers,

Phil

Oh that's right. There is a speed wire on the later cars for the volume compensating radios... Not sure that it matters. You can use the GPS for speed and it will still drive the ODO on the dash 2... You still need CAN to get any real data...

Thanks,

In the post below, he mentions tapping the can wire ...to get all of the standard dash functions. Or is this the CAN cable you are talking about

I can't see the pic, but the Can wires are the twisted pair blue and red wires. Yes you can tap those IF theres a module that can do something with the data...

I'm learning that sometimes the dash can play games with my ability to flash through the OBD-2 port at times though!

Spoke with AL and he wasnt sure if I could get the fuel level from the CAN without knowing if it sends a code. I went ahead and ordered the cable.

Can I not just jump the 2 CAN wires for the info?
