Deka EXT20L Battery Bracket (NCI/RLS) fitment issues...anyone else?

Hi all,

I just threw a branded Deka EXT20L in my Elise, and grabbed the NCI bracket (sold by RLS). However, the fitment is a little strange...normally I wouldn't really complain but for $80 I could have bent up some metal and achieved probably the same result...

1) It doesn't go on top of the battery
2) I had to really push 'in' (towards the wheel well) to get the lower bolt to line up
3) I was surprised to not see any washers included with it, is it really supposed to press directly on the rivets next to the bolt holes? (both locations)

Any advance or thoughts from owners with this bracket are appreciated! I've seen other pics of it installed and it looks great.

And yes, I tried to push it down before taking these pics

Mine is a little funky, but not like yours. Definitely use some washers on top of the rivets to make it sit more flush. I followed this install guide:
