Try turning the key manually..or is that what you meant, key won't work?

Are you saying that the car just will not start?

Locked out makes me think you can't open the car.

okay I used a Jumper cable and a paperclip to connect the white (center cable) of the inertia switch to plu but nothing happened....
May be a broken fuse?
since the alarm is dsiabling and the battery is full I hyave to assume a fuse afilure ? Any thoughts?

Lessons Learned .......

Don't leave your lights on.....
Don't assume it is not the battery...............
Once your have figured it out, make sure the inertia switch cable is connected -- other wise your engine won't start

Thanks for your support Randy
Elise and Laptop are safely home and charging...

Someone had earlier suggested that you keep a printout of this picture and description somewhere in the trunk in case you need it.

So Matt -- how did you get it unlocked and started? I'm assuming with a dead battery (car, not fob) you can jump the car and then unlock the doors and start, no?

I had the same sitution. When my battery was dead, until it was charged to 100% all it would do is set off the alarm the second the battery cables are reattached. When the batt was charged to 100% and I reattached the cables no alarm, everything was normal.

You can't rationalize cars like these, they're not something you buy with your head, you buy them with your heart because you love them and who can explain love. All I know is I love my lil elise more then I like any other car...

His battery was not charged enough. We talked on the phone about it last night.

Basically, you can have enough juice to operate the alarm system, but the solenoids for the doorlocks require more current.

Now that we actually have the car (Exige) things make a little more sense. That being said, what do Exige owners do in a similar battery related situaiton since from what I can see there is no external trunk access. It is all so confusing. If my fob dies than a new battery for it would be the only way to get back in the car if locked with fob/cdl?

You can't open the Exige trunk from the outside? How do you open it?

The Exige has a remote release handle inside the cabin for the engine lid.... don't know if there's an external lock.

Exactly, so what in the hell do you do if your car is locked and the battery is dead? The thought of it all kind of freaks me out . . .

Doesn't the alarm system have its own backup battery? If so, that'd explain why the alarm would arm/disarm, but the locks would not be receiving power.

Good to know.

So open up the access panel right? Hmm.. where is that allen wrench? Oh.. in the trunk!

Perhaps it would be a good idea to place a spare allen wrench somewhere accessible on the car.
