Today:

1. The large connector on the 2005 and 2008 dash is the same.

2. Lotus has the numeral desination for the B connector reversed end to end. eg what they list as B12, 222/BP can be found in B1, not B12. This is consistent from the 2005, 2006 and 2008 manuals.

3. Differences from 2005 to 2008:

- A1 (power) moved to A3
- A3 (power) moved to A5
- C1 (CANH) moved to A7
- C7 (CANL) moved to B7
- C5 (illum) moved to A10
- A10 (alt) moved to A4

This does not quite make sense. For instance CANL on B7 conclicts with the B6 designation of the illumination wire, once the B6 is corrected to B7. I think there are errors in the 2008 wiring diagram posted. Can someone with the original manual check that for me, or if someone has their 2008 dash out, verify the wire colors?

4. The pins are different between the 2005 AB connector and C connector. Since I need to move the wires from the C connector to the AB connector, I'm going to have to track down those terminals.

I've tested each pin on the 2008 cluster. It seems that Lotus has corrected the pin assignment problem with the 05-06 manual, so the B connector is not reversed. It could be that I was mistaken with the 05 B pin numbers - I'll check again.

1. On Charlie's 2005 wiring diagram, A1 and A3 and transposed.

2. On Charlie's 2008 wiring diagram, B6, A7 and B7 have the wrong wire numbers.

My conversion table now looks like this:
Code:
Pin	2005 2008 Change
A1	29,P	Bat Power
A2	206,B	GND 206,B	GND -
A3	25,G	Fused Ign	29,P	Bat Power	A1
A4 110,NY	Alternator	A10
A5 25,G	Gauge Power	A3
A6 179,PK	Alarm Light	B6
A7 430,U	CANH C1
A8	76,RY	Rear Fog	76,RY
A9	86,UW	Main Beam	86,UW	Main Beam	-
A10	110,NY	Alternator	402,RO	Illum C5
A11	51,GR	Indicator	51,GR	Indicator	-
A12	45,GW	Indicator	45,GW	Indicator	-
B1	222,BP	SRS 113,BW	Brake B12
B2	342,PW	Doors
B3 138,BY	ABS B10
B4	105,RW	Trip switch	167,BP	Seatbelt	B9

Re-pinned the connector apart from the C connector, and everything works so far. Next step is to wire up the CAN and illumination signal from the C connector.

The Lotus manual was correct - I had the B pin numbering incorrect. Ignore those points in the posts above.

I may need to get my 06 cluster replaced under warranty soon--maybe I can get them to replace it with an 08 instead, and then I can do this conversion?

Anyone game to give a status report?

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this--very much appreciated by people like me!

My conversion will only work with the Honda ECU. For the stock ECU you need to get an update from rob13572468 - hopefully some of the work I did will help him out.

Ive been busy with our mercedes benz remote starter project which has been insanely popular and as a result has taken up all the work time in the past 2 months. Fortunately now remote start season is coming to a close so I have time to work on other projects like the cluster converter.

I would expect to have some boards ready to go in the next few weeks...

I am interested in this retrofit speedometer conversion upgrade once everything is finalized. I've been wanting this for quite some time now.
