going by several S240 owners I've spoken with regarding some 'ghosts in the machine' relative to the clusters crapping out on them at odd times and in odd ways, as nice as this cluster looks, don't know that it's much of an update.

The new cluster has upgradeable firmware, so it might get better with time (not the case with the old one).

Indeed. But two of the guys with problems with whom I've spoken have said fixing the issues have stymied the techs at their respective Lotus dealers so far. They're pretty much stuck with (so far) unhooking the battery for 5 minutes, then hooking it back up, to reset.

Oh, interesting. You're sure that's not the old one? I have the same problem with the old one. The dealer is going to try some somewhat crazy-sounding sequence of things to try to fix it.

Not sure what you mean by 'the old one.' Talking about the updated cluster that appeared in 08, specifically in the S240's. One that looks like the pic in the original post.

Did they update the updated cluster later in the 08 MY?

I'm not referring to the white background cluster in my 07 Exige or earlier Elise.

Sorry, "old one" meaning pre-08. Sounds like there are ongoing issues with both then!

Hey guys, any closer to a retrofit? Need a new cluster this week anyway so would be great to know if this is doable. Thanks...

i have an O8 cluster on an 07 ecu, been away for a couple of weeks though.

you won't get everything working since some of the stuff is missing, like tpms, and anything else i haven't thought of yet.

you'll need to modify the harness on the cluster side.

Black Exige S / Elan M100. Don't run a smaller pulley without an upgraded fuel pump! http://www.goth.am ecu stuff.. New reflash box coming soon!

Don't know how far you have got with this but I have been told that you need to have the new style dash as well otherwise the fitment is all wrong...

By new style I mean speakers on the top of the dash, all black and no alcantara..

Not sure if any of you guys are effected by this but over here in the UK the new style dash didn't come out until 07.

is it just the black look everyone is looking for? wouldn't it be easier to get a different colored panel then using the actual panel from the 08s?.

(ie that guy that was selling the black HVAC surrounds?!?)

or do you guys just want the directional turn signals/new design?

Me neither - but that's coming from a 10 year veteran at Lotus here in the UK. Which is maybe where the $4k quote came from previously in the thread as you would need to replace almost everything in the dash (when you consider the stack is best part of $1k, cost of a new dash and all related bits, with Lotus labour rates on top of it that's maybe not far off right)
