(Nothing would need to be disassembled; I just need to plug into the obd-ii port)... that way we could also do the data display/ V1 display for 08 and newer vehicles as well...
Rob: did you ever get somebody in the area to bring their vehicle by? Seems like this is the first step if we want to get this done - anybody have a 2008+ vehicle?

Rob, Charlie, any updates?
Seems like you have an overwhelming number of people interested if you can get some sort of kit / system and sell it.

The black dash is not plug and play. The ecu has to be reprogrammed and this particular reprogramming cannot be done with our kold-fire obd cable. The ecu has to be opened.

We can perform this service if you send the ecu to us. 06+ cars only.

Best,

Phil

Correct. THe 05 has an entirely different ECU. It may be possible to develop a FW (and possibly the hardware) for the 05 to run the black dash, but we have no plans to do it.

It's 06+ mod only.

Cheers,

Phil

I'm actually considering this mod. Need to find out home much an 08 cluster actually costs first. Will now search this thread....

Thinking of K-swapping? Here's an idea of the cost involved.

Wouldn't it just be easier to make some custom gauge faces? That's what I'm in the process of doing...

I now have the 08+ instrument cluster and had BOE do the "black dash" reprogramming (thanks Phil!).

However I want to make a wiring harness with the proper connectors so I don't have to splice into factory wiring. Happy to share the solution if I can figure it out.

- Anyone have pinouts for both the pre-08 and 08+ clusters?

- Longshot, but anyone know or can find out what connectors are used to connect to each cluster? Are they standard?

Thanks for any help... maybe we can finally crack this nut...

Actually I do have the schematic for the pre-08 cluster, so all I need is:

- schematic for 08+ cluster
- information about connectors used

Thanks!

OK, got the above, so now I need a clear photo of the smaller of the two connectors on the back of the pre-08 cluster. Anyone have a straight-on shot of that smaller connector they could send me? Specifically I'm looking for the pin shape and pin labels (C1, C2, C3, etc.)

Thanks!

The 05-07 odometer increments based on the integration of speed (not quite accurate, as the speedo seems designed to run 8% fast yet the odometer is still accurate at that speed. eg if you give the speedo 60 mph it does less than 1 mile per minute.)
The 08+ uses two speeds - one for the speedo and one for the odometer (I'm guessing to fix the fudge above).
So if you have an 07 dash and want to advance the odometer, you'll need to give it a speed for a certain length of time.
Every other car manufacturer has a procedure to transfer the mileage from one dash to another, but that is no guarantee that Lotus can do this.
