Here's a link to the APEM datasheet, page G6, under the lamp section, LED 12V, P/N A0142Mx.

I think it's called a based LED, but I've also seen T1 3/4 midget groove being used as a name.

Ok, here's the first blue LED pics. Again, the crappy cell phone camera washes the color out, but it's quite a nice blue. I may try to put in another order for LEDs this weekend, I'll keep everyone updated. The cheapest price I found for one of these blue LED bulbs is $23.88 from onlinecomponents.com. Add the shipping costs and I'll make sure you get one.

The lights in the power window switch are regular leds that have to be soldered in, they aren't plug in bulbs. I actually just replaced one of my amber ones cuz it went out. I think I have the info at home, I'll get back to you.

I'm having trouble trying to remove the metal collar. It seems to be bonded on?

I took the whole door panel off, the wire harness is tie-wrapped to door frame so it comes out easy but it's a bitch to put back on. Then I popped the switch out and took the plastic cover with the up/down arrows off. Then you can unsolder the old LED and put a new one in. I got a 25 pack of amber LEDs for 7 bucks at a local electronics store, but now that you mention it, red might look pretty sweet.

Never took apart the HVAC controllers if that's what you're asking. Hey you're in Toms River? I drive there every weekend. I saw a Red Elise in Ocean Gate a few months back, but have yet to see an orange one cruising around.

Yeah I just went out to double check mine, and the only thing I can come up with is maybe someone dabbed a bit of adhesive on that at the Lotus factory. My car is an 05 Elise, and that ring just fell off when the gray threaded collar was loosened. Perhaps some WD-40 and some light twisting will break it free? I'm at a loss for what would be holding it on, cuz the ring in my car is smooth. Here's some pics of the ring...what year and make of car do you have?

If you can't get it apart, and you don't wanna break anything, just send me the light back and I'll refund you. I do hope you succeed tho, I think the red is an awesome addition to the car. I'll try to come up with a way to get the button off without taking the ring off. So odd that it's stuck....

I really want to use the red led as well. I'm thinking about using a small strong suction cup to pull it out? does the ring itself physically hold the push button? or does it just block one from pulling at it?

The ring doesn't hold the push button in at all, if you get a moderate amount of force on the button, it should just pop out, and it just presses back in. I can't believe that ring won't come off. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into that problem here? Anyone? Tips and tricks?
