The '08 should already be backlit with white LEDs, right?

Can you plug the Lotus white EL into the eBay driver?? I'm curious to see how it lights it.. Different frequencies of AC voltage will change the EL color some. I had some old EL gauge faces (3000GT) that you could change the color on, different shades of blue / green.. If I recall, the Lotus cluster drives the EL at 400hz, which may not be optimal for white? Since OEM was really blue underneath....

Just need a couple bits of wire.. I stick a thin piece into the female pin, then into the back side of the other one if its a male pin. Just make sure the power is turned off first.. Zappo! They all run around 100v, so as long as they're similar in size it should drive it. I have a frequency generator but I'd need to amplify the output to get 100v. Would be interesting to see how much difference frequency makes.

Aah, got ya.. If you mean will the "Tron" looking faceplate light up like that on an '08; having never actually had either personally I can't say 100% but looking at the '08 housing and LED placement, I'd say some of the lines won't light up because they'll be blocked by the housing..

Also more importantly there are some lights down the center of the faceplate that won't be on the replacement one (traction control check engine, high beam, etc..), and the little oval lights in the speedo and tach wouldn't be there.

Status update from the manufacturer after I sent payment on the 5th.. Had to go back and forth with sales orders and confirming things again, and it looks like they're on the far end of '2-3 weeks', but they're in progress now... Still should arrive well before the Holidays.

"Please confirm the attached sales order. Your order will be shipping on the 28th and I will send the invoice receipt along with tracking at that time. Thank you."

Will update if I hear anything else, but most likely won't be until the 28th.. Now we just have to patiently wait.......

Good news / expected news on the plastic retainer rings.. I changed the model I made of the early 2005 ring to look like the later ones, and had a chance to print some samples today.. They fit perfectly, and really pull the faceplate down! Way better than the early "ridged" ones; I can see why they changed them. They just need to be stronger than the OEM ones. The 'expected' news is that since the 3D printer is black ABS, they block the needle LED light and the needles don't light up as well. So at least I have the right shape / size, just need to get time to make some on the lathe. Maybe in time for the EL panel shipments?

I can't wait for this to be finished. Now just the HVAC and the headlight indicators... Anyone know what LEDs I need to order to solder on white for the headlight indicators? Might as well get this done while I'm waiting on the EL.
