Day 7, June 20

Today we travelled via ferry from Hope, British Columbia to Vancouver Island.

1) BC Ferries
2) An Asian group celebrating on the ferry
3) Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island
4) Downtown Victoria, BC
5) The parliament buildings in Victoria

The guys in photo 4 say that each year they do something "crazy". They all rented outfits this year. I just happened to be passing by and got a great photo.

You caught me! Yes from Hope to the ferry was a 2 hour drive.

Here is what my Elise looked like on the ferry.

Photo attached.

I was really praying that the vehicles in front and behind my Elise wouldn't shift during the ferry ride. Luckily they stayed put.

Yeah, I know what you mean, and you have to pay special attention to where you park the car, cause there is no way you will be able to find it just by looking around.

Day 8, June 21

We spent the day visiting friends in the southern part of Vancouver Island.

1) The morning sky in Victoria
2) Our friends' backyard in Victoria. They clearly love gardening
3) Mount Douglas Park in Victoria
4) A totem pole
5) The eastern coast of the island

After many consecutive days of driving it was nice to relax with our friends.

Day 9, June 22

We started the day at our friends' house in Cobble Hill, Vancouver Island and drove out to Tofino. Our friends are into photography and art.

1) A photograph taken by one of our friends
2) The stunning view from their dinner table
3) Goats on the Roof in Coombs, BC
4) My wife sitting on a tree trunk in Cathedral Grove
5) Some ocean scenery in Ucluelet, BC

In Coombs, the attraction is a set of stores that feature goats walking around on the roofs. I feel a bit sorry for the neighbouring towns. This gimmick undoubtedly cut into their tourism.

That's a hell of a trip! Vancouver Island is one of my favorite places- truly magical. I've been to Goats on Roof as well!

How was the road to Tofino? Its been bad at the best of times so I have been afraid to take the Exige up there with all of the current construction.

I am located on the Island about 10 min from Coombs

There was a lot of construction in one spot. They are in the process of widening the road. On the whole though the roads were Ok. Nothing to fear in your Exige.

Day 9, June 22

The construction was near Kennedy Lake. I've heard that they are going to make the road 2 lanes wide in each direction.

If you are going West from Toronto on the TransCanada there is basically only one route until about Brandon, Manitoba. At that point the TransCanada splits into two. You can take one leg through Regina. The other leg goes through Saskatoon. I like the Saskatoon route more.

Day 10, June 23

We spent most of the day in the Tofino area of Vancouver Island.

1) The harbour in Tofino
2) A cute sign in a local art store
3) My car sitting on the dock in Tofino
4) Some surfing
5) One of the local gardens

When we visited, the weather was pretty chilly. I've heard that had we gone there a few weeks later it would have been warmer, but at least we avoided the big tourist crunch. There were not too many people there in late June.

Day 11, June 24

On Day 11 we left Vancouver Island and travelled down to Seattle to visit my sister. We took the US Black Ball ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles, Washington. The passport check turned out to be very simple. It was a nice way to cross into the US.

1) A vintage car in the queue for the ferry
2) My Elise
3) My wife enjoying the ferry
4) Victoria harbour
