Cleaveland Ohio to San Diego Cali…can't wait

Picking up my 2010 Aquamarine/Oyster Evora in Ohio and driving it back to San Dawg. Trip start date will begin June 10th and end....eventually 😇. Cannot wait! Already picked up the must haves:
Placks exhaust, RLS mirrors, sun shade to protect dash, LED lighting throughout cabin, front clam skid plates (sirlotus), lotus seat belt covers, and of course...the obvious key chain 😎.

This is my second Evora so I'm fairly certain I'm aware of their "niggles" but I'll be too engaged in the driving experience to notice anything else!

Wish me safe travels if you would! I think we all need that good karma before a long 2300 mile cross country trip.

It'll be great to get back to the forums (not that I really ever left).

Thanks to Mercraus for an extremely pleasant experience thus far!! ***fist bump*** …and explode!!

Congratulations.

Sounds like a fun trip.

Will you be heading back to SoCal via the shortest route (i.e. are you severely time limited) or will you be able to take this as an opportunity to experience some Lotus roads along the way?

I have a few rules when planning a road trip.

No night driving. I want to see America.
Select routes in the following order of preference: State highway, US highway, Interstate. (The Lotus Hierarchy of Roads)
Leave plenty of slack in the schedule to allow for diversions along the way. Again, I want to see America.

For years I did road trips by Interstate. Get where you're going, spend the time there, get back. It was all about the destination. People look at me funny when I tell them the Elise has changed my life, but this is one way it has. Now, road trips are about the journey. I see more of our great country by not rushing through it. Stop and read the historical markers, visit the small town museum, take a short hike. Picnic.

If you have the luxury of time, skip the Interstates. I'd also consider a route through Colorado and Utah rather than the more direct route through NM and AZ. Wolf Creek Pass isn't the road it was forty years ago, but it's still more interesting than anything on I-10 or I-40.

I'll be somewhat limited on time but may decide to go the Colorado route vice the NM/AZ route....it'll add a couple hours but I think it'll be the better choice I'm in the military and I'm sure I've got a few more cross country drives in my future (next one is this time next yr so the wife and I will be spending some time exploring). Thanks for the messages!!
