Dragon's tail trip - Labor day weekend

My buddy (in his Cayman) and I (in my AR 2006 Elise) making a trip across the Smokies this labor day weekend. We start at Asheville, NC on Sunday morning and make our way to Bryson City by nightfall. On the plan is the via duct, Little Switzerland with the 226 loop, Blue Ridge Parkway, 151 and 215 routes. Monday, we head further west towards 129 (Dragon's tail) and the Cherahola Skyway , finishing the day at Knoxville, TN. Tuesday, I drive back to Michigan :-)

If any other Lotus owners are going be around in that area, PM me. Regardless, I am sure I will see some Lotus's down there!

Also, would love some tips for my first LONG road trip with the Elise. What should I keep in mind as essential items to carry along?

Have fun and be safe! As has become the usual, only parade laps on the Dragon, as it's become a big source of THP's income these days.

Of course, the other roads in the area are more fun anyways.

Travel tips:
*Bring a towel and keep it behind your seat.
*If it rains you'll likely get dripping from the roof.
*Also bring a tire plug repair kit; because if you bring it you likely won't need it!
*Drinks and snacks in the car are your discretion, but if you do, make sure drinks have screw-tops and snacks are not flaky, powdery, or otherwise messy.
*If you have an '05 Elise, plan on taking chiropractic breaks every 2 hours and prepare come-backs from your Cayman buddy.
*Plan on driving down with me next May for the MINIs on the Dragon. I bring my Exige, the time of the year is perfect [not too hot, no bugs yet], and the MINI folk are great fun.

Have fun!
Ryan

I so wish I could join you! I'm stuck in the southwest and only a three week roadtrip would do it justice!

as project Lotus advances, peace is closer...

Little Switzerland was a really cool drive. If you have a chance try to make it to the Moonshiners 28. I thought it was a great drive not quite as tight as the dragon but you can keep the speeds up a little higher than the Dragon.

Dragon

Heading over to Cashiers so I may very well be in the area. I have never driven the Dragon but would like to do so - seems like it would be crowded this weekend.

Little Switzerland was a great run - highly reccomended.

Best,

Ash
