Ottawa<->Boston: By BMW or Lotus ?

Hi,

I have business in Boston next week and since last minute airfares are RIDICULOUS ($2000 for a direct flight, $700 for a 1 stop intinerary that takes 5hrs to get there and 7 hrs to get home) I'm going to do what I've wanted to do for a while, which is drive.

On the way down I'll be doing the interstates (either I-89 or I-91+I-93). Are there any interesting twisties for the way back that won't take me too far out of the way ? If so the Lotus may be the tool of choice. Otherwise the BMW.

You should meet up with me at one of the local shops in the Boston area haha.

Have fun in the states!

Flights to Ottawa seem to be expensive and tough.

Take the the car you like least. Boston driving is insane. Signs and lane markings are totally ignored. I've seen the highway with bumper to bumper traffic running 80 mph in the break down lane with stop & go in the right most lane. 5 minutes later it is reversed. Remember to park by ear, the natives do.

I hear Boston is notorious for park-by-touch. Is that true?

D.C is notorious for park-by-touch. Not so sure about Boston.

Studies show 100% of people die. Might as well have some fun.

Well I'm actually not spending much time in Boston proper. The office is in Waltham and my hotel in in Newton, so I'll drive to Waltham, drive to Newton, repeat, go home.

Any interesting drives in the area ?

I drove the Lotus anyway. Down through Vermont on I-89 on Monday, back through NH on I-93/I-91 yesterday.

Fantastic drive, even if I did stay on the interstates. I-89 felt way more picturesque with more mountains. Amazing views of the High Peaks on the other side of Lake Champlain. I-93 is flatter, longer until you come up to Waterville Valley when things get interesting and the Franconia Notch is always a fantastic view.

I think that if I took a couple of days or 3 for either leg I could have had lot of fun on the roads around there, but when you're already in for an 8hr drive on the interstates, you're not real motivated to extend the drive.

Lots of troopers, but nobody saw me.
