Suggestions for Good AZ Drives......

Searched and found some older entries (2008).

Figured I'd post up a few I've done that are fun in the Elise.

89A from Jerome to Prescott. 89 from Prescott to Congress.

88 from Apache Junction to Tortilla Flats (or where the pavement ends)....but LOTS of gravel on the paved parts...will probably pot mark the side of the car by the rear wheel well.

Off 87 from Rye to Gisela (very short, but twisty two lane).

Salt River Canyon 77/60.

Haven't done 191, but looks promising.....

Any other recommendations, maybe down by Tucson?

Oh, and the road down to Tanto Natural Bridge is very twisty two lane.....but EXTREMELY short. Probably around a mile.

The 191 is royally epic. No words can describe 770 turns in 110 miles of well-maintained, desolate highway. I wouldn't go alone due to the fact that there are very few other cars... I went with my car group and we were attacking corners for probably 1.5 hours between seeing other cars. It can be dangerous as there have been a high number of fatalities here. It's "street" name is still the Devil's Highway (and it used to be numbered US-666).

Other roads near Tucson:

- Mt. Graham
- Sonoita / Patagonia (out to Wine Country if you like wine)
- Kitt Peak
- Picture Rocks / Gates Pass loop (a little bumpy and not worth driving down from Phoenix)
- Arivaca (careful with this one, it's high speed and dangerous)

^ This happened a year ago to my good friend on Arivaca. We have always been a responsible group but one tiny patch of gravel ended the drive in a terrible way...
