Things learned while driving from Everett, WA to Los Angeles, CA

Over this past labor day weekend, I drove my Exige from Everett WA to Los Angeles CA and back.

I learned a few of the following things:
1.) It's possible to drive the 1,160ish (one way) miles in approximately 15 hours total drive time in spite of pit stops/ traffic/ and road construction.
2.) It's possible (and not as uncomfortable as it may seem) to sit in an Exige for 15 hours getting out only to refill the tank and empty the bladder.
3.) Beef Jerky and Energy drinks provide an excellent form of sustenance for long duration drives.
4.) A sports bottle works as a fine alternative to a cup holder.
5.) A good radar detector is quite helpful for avoiding conversations with the authorities.
6.) When refueling in Oregon, make sure the pump jockey puts the gas cap back on.
7.) California's idea to force trucks to travel at a vastly slower speed than the rest of traffic creates an irritating rolling traffic jam.
8.) The San Joaquin valley may test the limits of your AC.
9.) The I-405 in LA will attempt to break your spine if it has not already been broken by the I-5 in Seattle.
10.) Short, good looking, slim figured girls who can read maps make excellent driving companions.
11.) The roads into and out of Yosemite (CA 140, CA 120) are way fun!
12.) San Fran looks alot like Seattle when the weather is crappy.
13.) The US-1 north of San Fran can be fun, but is a bit too trafficy at times.
14.) Traversing CA's coastal mountains would be more fun on roads that are not one lane and full of free-roaming cattle.
15.) Long road trips in this car are totally worth it.

That's a much longer road trip than I can do. Glad you had fun.

But it's so cool to watch the front of your car bounce up and down as you drive down I-405! While sitting in traffic on I-405 in April, my radiator cooling fans lost their virginity - first time they ever kicked on! And that's after seven months in Texas.
