Thumbs up 2008 Viper - Dodge Steps Up. WAY Up!

100hp up! The '08 Viper SRT-10 Coupe, in R&T this month, makes 600hp and 560 ft-lbs of torque!

I mean, not a big deal unless you like that kind of thing.

I wonder how it will fare against a C6 Z06 on a road course? That's a comparison I'd like to see!!!

That is awesome. I know the Z06 or Blue Devil or whatever is probably faster or what not, but I don't care. I like exclusive. Only American car I would buy is the Viper. THat thing just screams attitude.

Corvettes are dime a dozen, you barely ever see VIpers. Imagine a Viper and Elise in the garage, extremes! Hot stuff

Any pics? Any body changes?

I really like the Viper and all the reviews coming in for the new one have been positive. I found myself on their site speccing them out. Faster, better handling, crazy colors, improved fuel mileage, smoother low speed driving, and lots of attitude? If I wanted to go for something new, this would be on my short list. A Viper and Elise would be a sweet combo!

Thanks for uploading the pic. Yikes, those are ugly wheels. I hate that green.

Love the Viper. Gotta own one before I die.

IMHO, unless they also made some massive changes to the chassis, the Viper would be decimated by the Z06. No contest in my mind - from sharing the track with both cars.

Here's to hoping that after 15 years, Dodge has finally come to the realization that the car needs to be able to turn too.

torque (trk) n. - an excuse for the lack of momentum.
- let's bring back CanAm & Group B!
- have you hugged your Exige today?
I'm currently working on my performance driving merit badge.
There's always somebody faster, sometimes it's me.

They have retuned the suspension as well as swap out to decent tires instead of run flats.

A good review is here -

Another mistake, I think. By throwing more power in a car, you're risking the chance of losing to the competition and people saying "even with x mre power it still can't beat so-and-so?" And even if it does produce faster times, people then might say something like "they had to add x power just to beat so-and-so?"

It's a tough choice to make, but somewhat trendy in the States these days.

PS - improve fuel milage? Are you kidding me? Don't be looking at a Viper for fuel milage.

I love the viper for its power and over the top style, but according to C&D it still won't run better lap times then the C6 Z06. I think that Dodge should get back into the American Lemans series and lotus should to it could be put in the same class as the Sky and Soltice

I will always love LOTUS, but I was meant for a Corvette
2002 Black Z06 Corvette

The Lotus isn't the only sports car in the world. There is plenty of stuff that will beat it in different aspects. But that doesn't mean they are going to look good doing it.-SweetDaddyD

This is probably blasphemy, but the color and abundance of louvers reminds me of the TVR Sagaris.
I'd consider buying a Viper. I do wish they'd get rid of the side pipes. Form isn't worth it if it functions to burn your legs when getting out of the car.

The point of this car is lost on people and I am surprised. I can name a lot of cars that run faster lap times than the Lotus too. I have a friend with a Viper. They are not meant to be sophisticated. A Z06 is a better tool. A Viper is a riot. I prefer the Viper. Loads of fun.

Oh, and I am not sure why people think they are not fast? They corner as well as a Lotus but with more ferocity.
