2010 Lotus Elise (Stretch)

Only $1,000 / horsepower

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...AC=dyrtsm71515

I thought that the price was a tad high until I read what it was.

Hah wonder if we should make a Venom GT sticky?

Venom discussions on LT

I have such mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, awesomeness. On the other, JH is cheating in a way, by starting with production models.

It wouldn't bother me so much if he wasn't trying to pass it off as a new car while it is still registered as an Elise. Had it called it the Elise HP1200 or something like that then it would make much more sense

Anyone into LS engines knows that any local tuning shop can build a 1200 hp TT variant for about $40k. Plus, Hennessey is known for letting cars go that are poorly tuned. From what I can tell, with most of his common build packages, the owners end up having to have the cars retuned by someone else, to get them to run properly.

Or less (depending on the quality).

I wouldn't trust Hennessey to put gasoline in my car. I'm serious. Too many horror stories. They've actually been accused of stealing parts from customer's vehicles and replacing them with lesser parts.

I won't add a link as a simple Google search provides all that is needed.

The Hennessey Venom is the best looking lotus mod.
The Hennessey Venom is the fastest modded lotus.
Its the best.

If you disagree, then make something better.
But if you just complain about the Venom, the problem is you

This was long ago. I live an hour from Hennessey and he always comes out to car meets. Very nice guy. We all make mistakes but to say you wouldn't let him put gas in your car is just ridiculous. Obviously he knows what he is doing or you wouldn't know who he was. I've been to his shop multiple times and those guys know exactly what they are doing. Until you've been there or met him yourself don't be hating, but I know that's your specialty.

I only know who he is because of his terrible reputation on many forums. I seriously wouldn't let him near any of my vehicles.

My nasty reputation takes me everywhere

It is admitted by all that he was much addicted to women, as well as very expensive in his intrigues with them, and that he debauched many ladies of the highest quality; among whom were Posthumia, the wife of Servius Sulpicius; and Lollia, the wife of Aulus Gabinius.

...

The only cars that were routinely actually completed were cars that were owned by VIPs, personal friends of Hennessey, or local clients who could actually come in person to the shop and check on how their cars were progressing. According to a subset of ex-employees that knew more about the financial side of the company, the costs for the builds for these cars were paid for by other clients’ deposits.

....

Even when cars were actually built, the quality was not as advertised. An ex-employee who actually did the work on the cars told me that off-the shelf parts were often used, “with the Hennessey name slapped on them.” Cars are not individually dyno tested to confirm their power; copies of dyno sheets are used, and some employees suggested that dyno sheets were faked.

Drives a Prius (clearly knows nothing about cars).

I've had quite a few people tell me my Exige looks like a "Hennessy Venom" That kind of rubs me the wrong way as it's the other way around. No doubt the Venom is a serious machine, But it's just a heavily modded Lotus at the end of the day IMHO.

2006 Lotus Exige N/A
2006 Lotus Exige Katana
2006 Lotus Elise
2005 Lotus Elise
