I'm in the same boat... there is a lot of banter, but some good information there...

BTW, is your girdle still good on your block... if it is, I'd be in the market for one.

Same thing happened to me last year at the track. I had DRS in La Habra, CA build a complete motor for my turbo elise. BOE would be another option. maybe Monkeywrench....

Do you want to go stock or performance? You can find low mile used engines in the classifieds here for stock. I think I heard it is $1800.00 for a new stock block but I may be wrong. Options for builds are all depending upon budget. Monkey wrench sells upgraded engines or better yet, talk to Phil. I think he has like a 99.9% positive rating. It all depends upon a budget or open checkbook if you are Ross!

We can turn motors around fairly quickly, but each is custom built, so it's not over night. The shop is FULL this time of year. Building 4 motors at the moment and more to go... If you would like one, we're happy to help...

We can do anything from sturdier street motors to full race builds with dry sump, etc. We stock parts to build compression ranging from about 8.6:1 up to 11.9:1. We keep JCR heads in stock, all core components, cams, etc... We have two chassis dedicated to breaking in and custom mapping motors on the dyno. There's a significant service charge for this, but if you're real serious about things and don't want (or can't) just ship the car to us, we do this as well.

More info and pricing is on our website here: BOE Engines

Hope that helps and THANK YOU for all the kind words everyone!

Well I wouldn't say that -- I did have a good year that year so yeah I went a little nuts with Phil (who I see just chimed in).

I actually got my long block from Hennessey - the guys building the Venom GT. They pulled it from the car that became Steven Tyler's convertible (the first one too). I paid $6k shipped for the whole long block and trans with 8 miles on it. Not 8k, just 8. Screaming deal.

MWR doesn't have a great reputation on this forum. Some would say they're to be avoided.

I'd spend the extra dollars on a Jim Clayton head.

You learn something new every day. I though Phil did the entire job. Of course I'm just jealous and aching to get a ride in the beast. Nothing but respect for you Ross. Just busting your chops!

Are you running a stock HP motor or boosted motor? It will make difference what will last. Where do live also?

No worries Sturgeon, I getcha. The build with Phil started as I thought I'd killed it again but in reality it was my clutch that exploded. He tore it apart to figure out what I'd blow and when we determined it wasn't the motor I decided to take the money I was going to spend swapping it to do the big build. Had already decided and budgetted for the Rev300 so when "extra" money was freed up we went monster.

I would get Ferrea valves and take a good look at some exhaust side porting.

Sorry you broke down Tasracer.

Lots of options indeed. I replaced my damaged head recently as well. It was a different failure mode.

I sourced parts from MWR.

Found someone local and reputable to do the build. Installation not a issue for me fortunately so I could kind of pop off on parts!!!

New Head
I had minor intake and exhaust porting.
I went with new OEM cams
New VVT mechanism,
Ferrea valves.
Eibach springs
Titanium lock set.
phenolytic barrier on intake.
billet oil pump set
New CAM Gear set as well as crank and timing chain tensioner...

The rabbit hole of wants and needs becomes multidimensional when your that deep in... I am there again this time with my transmission having a well sorted enough engine ready to go... LOTUS!

Good fortune with your build. I look forward to hearing how you went cause it's in my future as well someday.

Never send to know for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee!

Stay away from monkeywrench. Had a fellow lotus driver who had a really bad experience with her turbo exige build.

Talk to BOE

If it was my car and I had time to work on it, I'd do a K swap.
