Exige Cold Start High RPM's

Hi guys,

When I start my '07 Exige stone cold it fires up and revs up to about 2000rpm's
and then quickly backs down to around 800.

Seems very high at initial start. My Elise still never does that.

Is this normal?

Thanks,

Henry

AFAIK yes. But then again I haven’t driven the car in 5 months. So I can’t remember. lol

Yes. My 07 does that too. I guess it is the time it takes for the supercharger bypass to open. It is a quick burst just a few seconds.

@exigegus - it only stays up at 200rpm's for 10 seconds then backs off to 800rpm's

just didn't understand why my Elise does not and the Exige does.

thanks guys,

Henry

I think @thebuzzard was suggesting a reason for this:

Yes. I'm just guessing, but the supercharger bypass is closed when there is no vacuum on the engine side of the butterfly valve, so the engine starts with boost on until vacuum builds. It could as likely be a generous dose of fuel from the ECU as part of the start procedure. Maybe both.

My 07 Exige doesn't do this. Starts around 1000rpm and hangs out around 800.
