Is replacing passenger side skirt expensive ?

Trying to further my education while shopping for an Exige......

There is an Exige posted for sale on the board that states there is damage to the passenger side skirt as well as the splitter. I know the splitter is considered almost a sacrificial piece by many but what about the side skirt ?
Its not one of the major clam pieces but what would we be talking about in terms of repair ?

Thanx in advance......(I have learned a great deal about Lotus cars on this board. just what I need before taking the plunge..)

If you are referring to the painted portion of the lower body beneath the doors it is a very difficult repair.

It can be done but in most cases it is not economical to do.

Here is a link to some videos which show how one person accomplished the task: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...qA&app=desktop

Choose the videos discussing the side sill.

Is it an after market side skirt or the OEM side panel? If itís a true side skirt then you donít even need to replace it. The car didnít come with one. But if itís the lower OEM panel then that can be a headache.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I guess I don't know if this is an aftermarket skirt because the pic of it has been removed. He promises to post more images though.

The videos look like its not simple to replace the factory panel....thanks for the links... !

I'll wait for the new images.

Cheers

My friend and I are going to do this on his 09 elise. We plan on removing both clams to do the work. Although time consuming, it's actually pretty easy to remove the clams. Just keep track of all fasteners and shims and their locations.

In your case, that looks like a simple on the car repair... or NOT in light of fkennell's comment.

Here's a video on removing the Sill.
