Kudos on the numbers, very impressive, but I am not sure what you can do with it? Remember many Elise folks are open track and A-X folks and I'd wonder if that performance is reliable and usable. Coudl you make that power continuously for 30 minutes in a track session? Can you put the power down without huge handling issues? That is the next big challenge!

If that's the case, then why do members even bother swapping out to K20 motors? For an extra 0.2 liters of displacement? That's rubbish (unless frankensteined and stroked ).

As much as we want a nice, flat torque curve...we still have a peaky high RPM engine. The nature of the damn thing won't permit such things without proper tuning. The closest thing we've seen to perfect torque curves so far were ronin's supercharger, and forcedfed's turbo builds.

The more we raise the limit of this engine, the more smaller standards get raised as well. It wasn't until recent 2zz turbo manifolds changes that allowed 300 whp to be broken without a sweat. And it was only a little over a year ago that Greddy (tripoint) superchargers were bearly hitting 220 whp off the greddy emanage basemap over at newcelica.org. Now, Apexi Power FC standalone ECU tuned 2zz's with the greddy supercharger can get 230-236 whp, and get to the 240-250 whp range with just water injection added on. Finding streetable limits to an engine isn't that bad of a thing IMO. He's just making the optimal midship 6.5 weight/hp goal easier for you guys by showing he can make a turbo that'll put your car into the 3's.

Err...he also got an 11 second Supra, and a Celica all-trac. I'm sure he's fine with the cars he has.

My thoughts exactly.

Yes, its "just" a celica with "just" more than 3 times more HP to the tire than the car makes stock. What he "can do" with all that power is run down just about anything he wants to on the highway including many sports bikes. Which, if you've ever done it, is actually quite fun.
