Need help with parking my trailer in Faifax County, VA

I recently moved to a new house in Fairfax County, VA and I got a ticket for parking my trailer in front of my house. The ticket violation states, "parking a commercial vehicle in a residential area." A commercial vehicle, in accordance to Fairfax County, is over 102 inches wide and more than 21 feet in length. My trailer is 101 inches wide and 22 feet long. Even though it is registered privately, they consider it to be a commercial vehicle. To make the long story short--I'm wondering if anyone here has any suggestions as far as where I can park my trailer in Fairfax County or if anyone has any space that they're willing to rent (for payment)?

I think that's a bit ridiculous, though I've lived in areas that has similar Nazi rules. Some years ago I got in trouble for parking my trailer on an alley that was about 125ft long and ONLY used by me and my neighbor, although plenty of room for people to go by. Trailer had been parked there for a couple years when not in use with no issues.
Meter maid decided to use that alley one day and reported my trailer and neigbors.

Anyhow. How about you cut the tongue and weld in a sleeve so you can pull it off when not in use? Or a hinge that would allow the tongue to fold to the side? Should get you under 21ft?

Interesting that your trailer is that wide. Some states don't allow over 8ft width so most trailers like what you have aren't made wider.

Do you have room on the side of your garage or backyard to park it?

I had the same problem where I used to live and parked my trailer in the back yard.

Once I had a party and moved it back out front and a local cop gave me a hard time. I told him if he wanted to harass me he was welcome to do so but the law said the trailer couldn't be parked for more than 24 hours and I was prepared to drive it around the block once a day until the party was over if he cared to check.

He left me alone for a few days until my event was over.

Doesn't solve you problem but I wanted you to know you are not alone.

Try a U store it type facility if you can't park in the back yard.

I emailed the manufacturer to see what they can do. I wished I had room. Maybe I just put it on the front lawn ... Just kidding

I got back from NJMP at about 9 pm on July 22nd and I was ticketed at 1:15 pm on the 23rd. It is just crazy. I wonder if Fairfax Count police have noting better to do than issue parking citation?

The manufacturer may say NO WAY just because of liability.

If you can get photos of the tongue area I should be able to come up with something. I own and operate a logging company and have done fabrication work on most of the equipment to make it work better or to repair it.

If the tongue is somehow detachable, then the length could potentially go below 21 feet.
The problem could likely be that a good god fearing neighbor has called the police.

Almost positive it's a neighbor. Fairfax County has no choice but to issue the citations if a complaint has been made. Sorry to hear about the problem. I'm no where near you otherwise I would've offered you my driveway till you found a permanent solution.

Has anyone used one of these on an aluminum chassis trailer? I can fold away about 2.5 feet. Imagine that

Found a place 30 min away. This is just crazy. It took almost a month to find something. I never thought we had such a shortage of space around Washington DC are.
