Shipping Enclosed - any experience with DAS

The transportation company DAS (ebay preferred shipper) was highly recommended to me.

Has anyone had experience with them?

THanks.

Jeff

PS - getting closer to having one for real!

I went with Specialty Mobile Systems, and they were great. I believe they are rated #1 on www.transportreviews.com.

I shipped my Elise from LA to Kentucky last year using DAS. No problems. They were quick, friendly, and reasonably priced. Not everyone has the same experiences, I guess, but I've used DAS with other cars as well (East to West coast moves) and they have always done well. Just make sure you pay extra for top load, enclosed carrier, with the insurance for peace of mind.

Agree...FedEx...formerly Passport Transport. They may cost $300 more than some others, but well worth it. Had a GTV shipped a few years back from SanFran to Orlando. Arrived safe and sound, with the added benefit of having a GT3 Turbo and 550 parked in front of my house for a while when he went to PU another car for the trip back out west. My neighbors thought I won lotto...

I bought my V8 Espirt from someone in LA, and had it shipped to me here in Ohio. I sold it a few years later to a guy in Seattle. I used DAS closed container both times with zero problems on either cross-country trip. You can watch/track the progress of the car on the internet too.

Yes, three years ago I used DAS to transport a car from Oregon to LA. I used covered transportation, with car on the upper level (prevents drips and other fluids damaging your finish, from cars above if you are on the lower level). DAS was professional, competitive, and timely.

Do some basic research about car shipping before making a choice: covered/uncovered; placement on the truck; insurance coverage included and additional; and, rates.

DAS Review

I saw terrible reviews about them on transportreviews and on link removed. I also had a terrible experience with this company. My whole navigation system was stolen before it got in the truck!

I used them in 2006 to ship my special car from Long Beach to Oahu at the suggestion of the Auto club. They did ok as far as I could tell, the worst part about the process includes loading and unloading in a bonded area where the average Joe has NO visibility at all. I used a private enclosed container option but it makes you pucker when you cant see who's loading it, how they are loading it and then it happens again in secret on the other end when they unload it.

I have used DAS twice to ship my vehicles from the States to Germany. The first time, it was flawless and simple. The second time, my car was destroyed by dock workers and even though I had purchased full coverage insurance on the shipment, they will not cover the cost to repair the car ~ €10,000.

**** DAS. With a shovel.
