2001 Porsche Boxster (89k mi) Sacramento, CA

My neighbor is selling his 2001 Porsche Boxster (non S) for $9,500 obo. The car has a proper 5 spd manual transmission.

This car is in great shape as it's always been garaged, driven regularly, and serviced. While it may seem to be priced a little high, it's actually a steal as the car has just had it's 90k mi service ($5,000). He noticed that it was blowing smoke at startup and was quickly able to Google this common Porsche issue with the air/oil seperator which was repaired during the service. The service also included new plugs, coils, coolant expansion tank, belts, thermostat, door latch assembly, and a new window regulator. About 15,000 miles on the tires. No track use. I believe that he is the second owner, having bought the car from a friend some years ago.

PM me and all get you his contact info ASAP.

For anyone who hasn't driven a 986 Boxster, do. Porsche is continually "refining", IMO ruining, their cars and the earlier cars like this one are much more analog and connected to the driver, lighter too. This is the Porsche chassis to have. The weight distribution is extremely even over the front and rear axles for a mid engine car (45/55) with makes the chassis biased towards oversteer but very easily controllable. It's much, much more entertaining than the rear engine cars, which feels like your driving a pendulum and you're just always trying to control that. The chassis is very stiff for a convertible and can take an aggressive suspension tune without a problem. The flat 6 sounds great too. Hopefully the owner of this one has had the IMS inspected or addressed and has done a water pump replacement. GLWS.
