Meet the 3-Eleven 430

The 3-Eleven 430 Is the Most Extreme Lotus Ever

It's also one of the quickest and fastest cars the company has ever built.

FEB 20, 2018

The Lotus 3-Eleven is already pretty damn extreme. It's a car with no doors, no roof, no radio, no real windshield, no power steering, and pretty much no luxury features whatsoever. But it does have the same supercharged Toyota V6 that you find in the Exige and Evora and it weighs hundreds of pounds less.

Of course, the 3-Eleven isn't road legal in the US, it's strictly a track car. But Europe, with its lovely lack of regulations and ability to embrace pure fun, doesn't restrict the 3-Eleven to the tracks. It's allowed to roam free on the A, B, and C roads of the region, tackling corners and generally being driven with verve and enthusiasm.

Lotus is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its first car, the Mark I, in 2018. To celebrate that and to mark the end of 3-Eleven production, the company decided a little send-off was in order. Meet the 3-Eleven 430.

As expected, the 3-Eleven 430 shares the Toyota V6 of the Exige Cup 430 and Evora GT430. That means it has 430 horsepower, but weighs just 2028 pounds. It gets to 60 in 3.1 seconds, has a top speed of 180 mph, and is the fastest car ever around Lotus's Hethel test track with a time of 1:24. That's two seconds quicker than the regular 3-Eleven and 0.8 quicker than the Exige Cup 430.

It has a Torsen LSD, Ohlins dampers, lightweight wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, new brakes, and the same mystical adjustable traction control that you can find in the Evora GT430 and Exige Cup. A new aero package helps it produce 584 pounds of downforce at 180 mph, an increase of 97 pounds.

The 3-Eleven 430 is available for 102,000 in the UK. And, the best part is that you, yes you, here in the US can purchase one for track duty. Get ready to see these littering track days up, down, and across this great nation.

This is sweet and glad to see Lotus offering it. I hope to see it during my factory tour next week...
