Removing a stud with red Loctite often produces a sound like a .22 pistol. They are really solid. The PO probably just screwed 'em in and leaned on 'em.
A moron tech, ashamedly at a Lotus dealer, once put the wheels back on with an air gun or a gorilla or something. I was breaking the breaker bars (yes two) tying to get the wheels off. Three of the studs came out with a bang.
Had the dealer not been an hour away there would have been quite an ugly scene. What an idiot. Had no business working on a bicycle much less a Lotus.
Anyone can make something complicated. It takes genius to make it simple. Einstein.
