1987 HCI starter wiring

I'm getting closer and closer to putting my esprit back together. I have a question about starter. On the main battery terminal how many wires go to that? I know I have red from battery and a brown from the alternator. But there are also two other wires. Another big red one like the battery wire and a brown like 10gauge wire from the harness. So are there 4 wires going to the positive starter terminal? I'm doing away with distributor and coil so is there wires I can start disconnecting as well. My car by the way is an 1987 HCI turbo. Thanks in advance.

Here is a picture of my 1984. It has 3 heavy wires going to it. I changed the brown one from the alternator to a much heavier gauge wire. One from the battery and one to feed the car electrics.

Changing from the brown 12GA (?) wire to 4GA is a very prudent step to prevent eventual fire.
Congrats on your 90 deg oil filter adapter install.

You might still want a short section to be 12 ga to act as a fusible link. Be sure to keep the wire away from anything that could damage and short it out like sharp corners and hot surfaces.
