No even close.

Is it just me, or did this trip go downhill since we ran out of Lucky Lager

Awesome pair. It is fun to have multiple fun cars from the same company that are so different.

thanks all

Here's my review after Day 1:

While the Esprit doesn't feel as nimble as the Elise, the sheer amount of twin V8 power is pure brute. I really didn't "explore" this too much since it's my first day and for the fear of that notorious Renault gearbox.

Pros:
- Styling
- Power
- AP Brakes kick ass
- Deep muscle sound (youtube doesn't do justice to the sound)

Cons:
- Slow rev'ing engine
- Deceptively small interior
- Short clutch (I stalled twice...)
- Strange rattling (probably from the stock exhaust)

That's all for now, will update periodically.

The V-8 doesn't rev like a 4 banger but it has a lot of low end torque. The rattling noise can be a cracked tailpipe (common) or something came loose in a cat or a muffler. Look for cracks in the tailpipes near the muffler. A "short" clutch can be a sign of a worn clutch. You shouldn't be stalling it, the engine may need to be checked or the brakes may be dragging. The V-8 doesn't drive at all like an Elise. Be careful in transitioning into the V-8, it can get away from you faster than the Elise and you will not be able to bring it back. Your best investment, besides having it serviced by a Lotus trained tech, is a driving course. I don't know how you can complain about the "small" interior, compared to the Elise, it's roomy! It even has a useable trunk! Have fun with your new purchase. Now go to Griot's Garage and buy some stuff to clean, polish and wax it! Try drcolorchip.com to fix up any road rash on the front.

Congrats, the two cars look great together!

If the exhaust rattle isn't cracks or cats as mentioned, check the exhaust heat shields for the rattle, it's pretty common for them to crack, particularly the left side IIRC.

Since it was Sunny and 75F yesterday, an impromptu lunch has higher priority than work. So a buddy and I decided to head to Neptunes Net in Malibu - a well known dive seafood joint off the PCH.

Here are a few pics we snapped along the way:

- our "playa supreme" lunch
- hitting 16,000 miles on the Esprit
- a WRX with license plate XL WING driven by a bimbo blond.
- a mannequin with the biggest set of t!ts i've ever seen.
