Hi,

If I wanted to use the full "fat lip" velocity stacks that MrDangerous mentions in the "X180 IMPROVEMENTS" topic (post 65) in my S4s along with this 1" spacer, how high should they project above the surface?

Thanks,
Rich

Hoping mine will arrive today.

Also, all I need now is to see an "enlarged ChargeCooler" group buy that I can join.

Thanks, Rich

Got mine in the mail today! Gaskets came from JAE yesterday, too. Just about all set. What size and length bolts we need to use with this spacer? Thanks !

An inch longer than you have now.

Currently you have 8- M8x80 and 2- M8x55. Add 25mm to each of those and you'll have it...

I failed to think about local stores not having long enough bolts, etc. Did find one which had M8x1.25 threaded rod though so am going to cut to length... :P

Installed! Took a bit longer than anticipated due to PO must have had the intake cover at some point and when it was put back they put some sort of RTV/Silicone/??? on both sides of the paper gasket. It was a MESS getting it all removed, gooey, goopy mess!

Had to remove the air cleaner cover as well

Going to chill out a bit before take out for a drive. Looks cool though! Just need to finish cleaning up the mess..

Garage
Now Kenny and the others will have as much fun changing oil and charging the A/C as us Bosch guys!

Does look nice tho'. Would have been nicer without Kenny's fingerprints.

Fit was very good, no issues on that front at all. Props to the Derek and the rest who made this possible!

Oil change shouldnt be an issue since I did the oil filter relocation thing a while back..

AC, yeah, probably right on that. Fingers crossed will not have any issues for a long time since just replaced the compressor last year.

Would be much easier if only did one versus two as I did. If only one probably no need to remove the air filter cover and such.

Ordering my bolts this evening. Several other positive comments about using stainless bolts. I don't know enough to have an opinion. Should I get stainless or the regular zinc finish?

Stainless isn't required, they just look better. If you don't have any preference, then just go to the hardware store and but standard bolts. Use antisieze on all bolts.

PLENUM SUPPORT BRACE
I am thinking of just bending the OEM Lotus plenum support brace so its tab is parallel to the plenum spacer surface and install a short stud on the bottom of the spacer. I would do the same to support fuel return tube and electrical harness. Studs would be Blue Loctited in.
I am planning to use just a flat washer and nylock nut on each stud.

OIL DIPSTICK
With a single plenum spacer it seems feasible to flatten the oil dipstick support brace and just drill new holes. Dipstick would then mount flat against the plenum box, instead of being spaced a-part. Pulling the dipstick out wound be more challenging, but not impossible.

Kenny, with double spacers... how did you attach the plenum support brace, oil dipstick brace, fuel return tube and electrical harness?

I attached the oil dipstick brace to the far rear bottom bolt. Only needed to attach to one of them. Using both of the dipstick braces attachment points would have been problematic and this solution is adequate IMHO.

The electrical harness was able to be easily attached at the 2nd and 3rd most rear bottom bolts.

I looked at the fuel return line and was not comfortable stretching, etc. it and after looking simply did not attach it and put some rubber hose which I split over it as a safety precaution for any rubbing.

I have not yet reattached the other brace though have looked at it and am open to ideas, etc. I was looking at bending it and attaching to front most bottom intake cover bolt and then to the alternator possibly. Ideas on this or other solution?

EDIT: You are correct in that reattaching all of them, other than the brace itself, would be very easy with a single spacer
