There must be a story with that car. It has been on ebay many times, and listed in just about every internet car market for the last several years. Same seller.

This car was up for sale when I bought mine and that was a year ago. The problem is what can you really do with it - if you drive it then it's worth only a fraction of what you paid for it. It's only really worth it if you intend to KEEP zero miles on it and then why buy it anyway. 'Better to get one with 15K miles on it for 35K or so - buy an Elise with the change.

I am not sure if this is an obvious observation... but it looks like the car is at:

Gentry Lane Automobiles Lotus of Ontario
770 Dupont Street
Toronto, ON M6G 1Z6, Canada
(416) 535-9900

I think I saw the car when I took my Exige S there for service. (I live in Niagara Falls, NY and this is the closest dealer.)

Just out of curiousity, if you bought the car, could you even legally register it in the USA? It is a Canadian car...

If you are actually planning on using the car it will require a full "C" service including replacing all the fluids, belts, filters, tires, and battery. Then you have to drive it and see what other problems there are to fix. If you have to send it to a shop figure $2-3K to "awaken" it. If you can do most of it yourself (except for the belts) maybe $1K If the clutch and brake system are rotten because of old fluid it can get a lot more expensive. Similar situation for the gas tanks. These cars are not like fine wine. Aging them does not make them more valuable without constant maintainence. As for bringing it into the USA, I think that depends on which State. Some are more liberal about it than others. Should inquire before buying though. And there *could* be duty or taxes to pay besides the shipping. If everything is in Metric that could be a problem.

IRRC, all you had to do was to swap out the Speedo from KM to Miles...at least that's what all the Ferrari 360/430s from Canada had to do to be legal in the US.

That's Gentry Lane, the Lotus dealer in Toronto. I've sat in that car. I never realized it was brand new though. They keep it in the showroom.
