Not even apologetic (“do you mind if I ask...”). Just in your face, “what’d that run ya?”

Crazy.

@helado @agentdr8 “what’d that run ya?”.... I just tell them the exact price that I paid used and they are in awe at how much of a bargain they are. Why be shy? I treat it no differently than when I by a new model car and people ask me the price. If people realized how affordable these are relative to other modern, low prod. number sports car, maybe it will garner more interest for the brand.

Why be shy? Because the way I was raised, it’s pretty damn rude to walk up to a stranger and ask them how much their car cost them.

When I used to get asked how much mine cost, I would say about $30 per lb. That stopped most people from asking additional price questions.

However, if they did ask how many pounds it weighed, I would say "I'm not really sure. But, the dealer told me roughly 1385 Kg."

I just say it’s somewhere between a Cayman and a well optioned 911. But it is disconcerting when that’s the first question lobbed your way. Thankfully it’s more often “what is that?!” or the cognoscenti who know Lotus and want to chat about it.

I also don’t see a big deal with disclosing what something costs. It’s not that one is bragging when disclosing the price, people just want to know and with these cars I would bet we typically pay less then what they expect was paid.

Yea a simple google search might also give them the answer they are looking for however the way I was raised, no need to keep secrets and hide the fact.... I also enjoy talking to people.

If asking price is their only questions then I agree, not good but if in a conversation then I see no problem thus to me depends on the situation.

Not once was I offended when asked about what my dad’s 63 Austin healer 3000 costs when I purchased it in 64.

I get both sides. I was just raised with the idea that it's tacky to ask how much things cost, whether it's a house, car, piece of jewelry, etc. I don't get mad, I was just surprised at how frequently strangers would ask that.

NOPE.......perfect example that shows how manners are going out the window these days. I was raised with manners and to show respect, and will continue to do so, and will continue to hopefully get it in return. Top three things that come to mind to NEVER ask.....
1.) Never ask how much something costs unless you are an active buyer in that market
2.) Never ask how much someone makes
3.) Never ask a female how much she weighs

Everyone has a voice-activated internet search tool in their pocket, they can look up Lotus if they need to know. Of course, I'm sure they are too lazy to look it up, which is probably also the laziness that's keeping them from working hard and earning their dream car.

So goes the coarsening of our culture; unfortunate and obvious example is the acceptance by many of the "F" word as a go-to adjective.

But other studies claim that the increase usage of profanities is a sign of greater intelligence.

@georgiadawgs98 OK, I have to admit that the bandit mask on the back looks bad a55 when you see the carbon fiber! That is a hell of a gorgeous car. I am still trying to decide whether or not to refinish my Europa in Pistachio Lime Green (70's term for Ithaca Verde). I would love to see this term in person to make the final decision.
