NOT ONE PERSON HAS MENTIONED THE MOST IMPORTANT VARIABLE IN TIRE CHOICE. Operating temperature you will drive in. Below 50 traction falls off the cliff on a Corsa and extreme performance tires. I want a tire that operstes best from 45-90 which means I live in New England. If you live in Texas where its 80 at 7Am Corsas are awesome straight out of the driveway.

In my experience the Michelin PSS works great in a wide temperature range. I would expect the PS4S to follow that trend. I know you aren't supposed to subject summer tires to low temperatures but I have done it numerous times and was impressed by how grippy the PSS remained even in lower temps. The tires never showed any signs of cold damage either (cracking or permanent change in grip levels). Some days here in the spring/fall start out in the low 30s in the morning and end up in the 50s or higher in the afternoon. That being said I had a car with Bridgestone RE-11s where the previous owner had driven in sub-freezing temps a few times and they were showing cracks at the edges of the sidewalls. I'd consider those a more extreme summer tire than the Michelins though.

I know this is an old comment but I wanted to give a shout out. I just ordered a set of the Firestone Indy 500. The reviews on these are better than most and the mileage seems to be 1.5-2x what most performance tires are getting! Tirerack had them for $153 each!

I had a set on my Countryman and really liked them. I hate Bridgestone tires (same company) but bought them as a budget tire as I knew I'd be trading the car within the year. I was very surprised with their dry and wet grip. They replaced P Zeros on the Mini and felt better.

Saying that when I ordered Evora tires last week I broke at the last second and ordered the PS4S..... So I'll love to hear how the Firestones work longer term on an Evora.

I can't comment on longevity yet, but I just put 4 Sumitomo Htr z 3's on the Evora S and so far they are really great tires.

I am not tracking my car so no input there, but as a road tire they are great so far! I went with the slightly wider rear tire and really like them. Ymmv

Will probably pull the trigger on a set of these, for another vehicle. I think these are marketed under a different brand/model in ROW, not able to find that atm, but supposedly they are very popular with the DE/streatable race tire crowd.

I retired my rear 285 Sumi's with 11000 miles at 3/32nds...and ~5 wetish track days. Completely heat cycled to hell. Fronts still had 6/32nds but had no grip left as a few of those days track dried and they got roasted. Great tire for the money and even if you do retire the fronts early , you are WAY ahead the the fat dudes options. (michelins)

Will let folks know how the new Conti ECS's are once broken in but so far they feel like the Corsas did...all good.

Continental ECS's have been on all summer and are absolutely fabulous. Did a track day with my Miata while Evora was in for a repair and I was astounded by the traction these had on dry track. damn near as good as R888's!!!

I have been running the PS4s for a year now, and they are pretty sweet. I autocross 2 days a month or so during the summer, and drive on them during spring and fall. They have held up just fine. No problems in the wet or dry, or the colder weather of spring/fall. I'll be replacing them next spring, will probably stick with the PS4s for daily driver tires. Just obtained a second set of rims specifically for autocross, so they won't be doing double duty anymore and will get something else for autocross and track purposes.

The current E400 has the factory Michelins, don't know if they are PSS or PS4s, but I hate them. I don't know if they are old or what, but they are so loud on the highway I can hear them over my straight pipe exhaust. The Indy 500s are available in my sizes, yes they are a touch heavier, but I can't wait to get them on my car. My last Evora had them and they wear really well, are quiet, reasonably priced, and performed very well on track.

Current:
2018 Evora 400 Metallic Black Manual
1998 Volvo V90 silver L59/4L60 swapped
1970 Honda CT70 Red

Sold:
2017 Audi R8 Silver V10/DCT
2010 Evora Carbon Grey Manual
12 others...

I've had both Conti Extreme sport contact and indy 500 on my car. No contest... Indy 500 was much better tire all around, especially the ride. Conti's were harsh.

??? Last car I instructed in that had the Indy 500's howled like a banshee all day. Funny in ratings ride and noise are nominal ratings. Also, they are an Ultra High performance tire, not a Max Performance tire.

Fire Indy 500 Ultra High Performance Summer. They are the Top rated UHPS tire.

Wet Traction
8.5
Dry Traction
8.5
Winter Traction All Season only
N/A
Ride & Noise Comfort
6.5
Tread Life
5

Conti ECS is #4 out of 33 in max catagory. Noise and ride ratings are better. So, gotta say a Max Perf tire will outdrive a UHP tire most every time. But I can't compare. But I have ECS's on 2 vehicles and they vastly improved the Miatas ride and handling over the RE050's.

just my experience! :-)

These were brand new tires mounted on lotus wheels, indy vs conti.... on the same elise.

Trust me, I wanted to like the Conti. On tirerack... they list the indy 9.3 vs conti 9.1 for dry grip, but the conti rates higher for road comfort... NOT in my experience. Maybe on a heavier car the Conti's are smoother, but not on a Lotus. Again, my personal apples to apples.
