Also straight from Lotus USAís mouth at LOG 38:

- The US will NOT be getting the GT410 at all because from a marketing standpoint itís too close in the Evora range to the 400. Iím bummed as that was the one I was eyeing but can somewhat understand.

- We ďmightĒ not be getting the GT430 Sport either but will definitely be getting the GT430. The reason the Sport is in question is because of certification. I ASSUME that the certification process only included the GT430 and theyíre trying to tag on the Sport version if the government allows them. Again, I sure as hell hope so as I'd prefer it over the full blown GT430.

- The Federilized GT430 and possibly the Sport as well if it gets Federalized will only have a carbon rear clam not front. This is to meet the requirement that at a 2 MPH crash test the vehicle structure must remain intact. Personally, Iím happy because who the hell wants to deal with replacing a splintered CF clam when soccer mom taps you at the stoplight. Actually, I wish both clams would be non-CF and this is why I was leaning towards the GT410 Sport. Alas, this is probably one of the reasons why they hinted at competitive pricing (non-CF front bumper).

- Expect Lotus US to be hosting a 3-day course/presentation/rollout at a Southern US racetrack the first week of December for the GT430 for interested parties. They will announce pricing more than likely before then but at the latest at this event.

That is really good news! I am 100% with you about not necessarily wanting the CF nose for the exact reason you mentioned. The 430 is intriguing because I want 1) more power than my 400 and 2) better suspension than my 400 (which is excellent but it needs more roll stiffness).

Agreed, the Sport wf no CF bodywork would float my boat

I've been reluctant to put a number down so don't take this to (or from) the bank, but I heard that the target for the GT430 is 105K. That's Carrera S money. Of course being truly competitive with Porsche would depend on the spec but one assumes the GT version gets air, wheels, insulation, the basic package you'd expect in a 400 and which I'd want in my car.

One of the earlier posts mentioned no 410 for the USA? Unless I'm getting confused and you mean there are 410 and 410 GT and it is the GT not coming the the USA.

In Canada, there is a 410 Sport at the Toronto dealer. I think it was priced at about $170,000 Can.

Lew, It was nice to meet yew at LOG. I think that's too low a number. $150-160k seems more appropriate for the GT430. Maybe the 430 Sport can be had for $ closer to your estimate...

Either way this is great news and exciting times for Lotus - and the community!

I agree, and Jay Emm (who's here in Nashville with us) assures me that number is a fiction but I actually did have it whispered to me. At 150K I have the same dilemma anybody else would. You have to be very devoted to Lotus to part with that sort of cash for what amounts to a tuned and lightened Evora. Not that they aren't highly desirable cars but ouch!

It was great to meet you, and let me add you're a very good sport and a pleasure to debate with!

Per Lotus Cars USA......the GT410 will not be available in the US because it is too close in line to the 400 from a marketing standpoint (not sure I agree with that at all, but I’m not the one making the decisions).

The GT430 is a definite for the States and the GT430 Sport is a “maybe” pending final certification from the US bureaucracy. They will have to wait to see if they allow the Sport model to slip in alongside the GT430.

WE do get the Sport 410's in the US, my car and a few others are a case in point. These Federal versions have the 410 suspension (fantastic tuning, by the way), go light bits such as cf and glass remove of side quarter panels, rear hatch and double pane firewall glass. What we don't get is the 410 engine tune (motor and fixable) along with minimalistic interior door panels and fixed bucket seat option.

The US 430 WILL get the 430 tuned engine (Lotus had a 400 road mule at LOG running the tune)(430 EPA certification test is scheduled), of course the Ohlin adj. shocks which are now also a 410 option, 410 cf bits plus the rear 430 clam and bumper in cf, while the front bumper will be the GT410 regular composite version of same style and the front clam regular 400 fitment. Hoping 430 front splitter and undertray are included. Interior will have Sparco airbag reclining seats (fyi only the Sport 410, not the GT410 or GT430 had the fixed buckets as standard equip.) and per the parts list all 410's, 430's to US/Canadian market come with the 400 series door panels. Would highly doubt getting the plexiglass firewall window either.

Bottom line if it was a significant part (interior/exterior) in the front end crash testing we get the 400 part, otherwise we would need to be hit with about $20 to 25K per vehicle to help absorb the costs of the test.

I would tweak that statement... The GT410 is too close in the line up to the existing Sport 410 (same other than f/r styling) and from a marketing view the GT410 styled version may bleed more sales away from the GT430 than they want.

Thanks Julian. I wasn’t there Friday evening to hear LCU speak, but did talk to them directly after the banquet. Appreciate the info you posted.

It is interesting to hear about the differences between models. However I would only perk up if I heard "roadster" in any of those specs.

Actually my Elise is coming up to 9 years and I was wondering what to buy next. At the Toronto dealer I saw a number of Evoras but of course there are no roadsters yet. I did notice a 2006 Elise in yellow with far fewer miles than mine, 40,000 km instead of 220,000 km. That would be the most tempting Lotus for me right now.
