I have a small bug.......At night, with the lights on, and holding the steering wheel Lotus style, the Starter Button stays lit. As I steer, the light on the SB catches the corner of my vision by appearing to flash on and off(hand blocking it, hand unblocking it). Oh ya and the cup holder is useless. Other that that, I've never hit 'limp home' mode. My doors lock and unlock(unlike MY2012).

I missed it keenly while driving some great European roads in our tawdry rental nags and I'm glad to be back although it was a great trip.

Good to know, my drivers seat has started untucking

On the positive side, Lotus seems to have resolved whatever electrical gremlin that caused the reverse camera to not turn on in reverse unless the car had been running for an extended period. Every S1 Evora I drove had this problem. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t develop over time on the 400.

At least in my 11, the front/main wiring harness is made by Ionix/Volex.

[I also posted this over here:
https://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f17...ooler-395737/]

My 2017 Lotus Evora 400 with an AUTOMATIC transmission keeps getting the transmission over-temperature light coming on when I track it for 15-20 minutes or more in either Sport or Race mode. The first time this happened, I was at Chuckwalla racetrack in the southern California desert and it was 90 Fahrenheit. Since then, though, the same thing has happened at temperatures of 60 F. I emailed with Dave Shepherd and Dave Simkin of Lotus, and they had me take it into the dealer (EuroCar) to download data and send to them. Their response was as follows:

Here is Lotus' statement in regards to your concerns.

-"The transmission control is doing its job when the oil gets hot. With continued high speed operation it is possible to get the transmission temperature up that high-- continued track use on a high speed circuit may do this."

OK, that's fine, but I am seeing a need here for better transmission cooling. Has anyone else had this issue?

Many thanks,
Whatiguana

I see you are in Nashville. You are lucky to have TJ and Carlock in town. I'm in Mississippi had to ship mine up to them after it was delivered from Cali with several issues (brand new).

Leaking front right caliper- replaced
Factory sub not working- sub and amp replaced
Seats untucking- new clips installed
Passenger windshield wiper- replaced (warranty won't cover)

Overall- no major issues, just minor stuff short of the leaking front caliper.

Tj at Carlock Motors in Nashville got me all sorted out and I'm picking her up Friday!! Highly recommend him for anyone in the south needing repairs.

Limited to 4000 RPM - 800 miles

Anyone else have this issue?

By the way I also have the trunk release issue
I got my 2018 Evora 400 2 weeks ago, and just hit 800 miles. I too experienced being limited to 4000 RPM. It was a pretty hot day at 81F, and at idle (traffic). My "blue" temp gauge lit up too and cooling fan was kicked on. Is being limited to 4000 RPM a safety design?

“My "blue" temp gauge lit up too and cooling fan was kicked on.”

Is there either a oil or water temp gauge or only warning lights?

Also is there an owners manual on line for the 400 somewhere? I couldn’t find one.

Thanks.

Reviewing 400 issues.....
Has any owner experienced "MC failure" as noted in the S1? Haven't noted any in forum, but curious, since the part number is the same for S1 and 400.........

Which "Cooling" fan? radiator cooling fans come on 1/2 speed at 95 C and full speed at 98 C, dropping back to 1/2 at 96 and off at 92

Engine bay fan has nothing to do with direct engine cooling, other than to reduce ambient temps in etc compartment while the car is stationary to help reduce intake air het soak, it kicks in at 100 C if idling and at 103 C if engine is off.

Blue coolant low temp light is on until water temp reach 60 C, and Engine Temp warning notice and chime comes on if temps get to 235 F (113 C)

For a few buck you can purchase a time access to the Lotus cars site to download manuals to your hearts content at Welcome | VSI

Until coolant has warmed above 60 C, engine rpms are limited to protect it, normal stable temps will be in the 90-100 C range. 81F is a mid winter day in texas, I would not call that hot interns of car performace

P0700 Transmission Control System (MIL Request)

So... first near hour trip today and got this code with CEL and Gear warnings. Once I arrived at my destination, I took a picture of the code and cleared it. Another hour of spirited driving on the return and a few more starts with no issues...

Anyone had this? no other codes were present and the car had no symptoms.

Thanks.

Boy, I feel dumb.

Anyway, typically the P0700 would come with another DTC, as it is a continuous monitor and will set immediately. An issue with communication between the TCM and ECM would set this DTC, but there would normally be another DTC to tell you what triggered it. First thing to check (if you're a DIY'er) is the connections at the ECM and TCM to make sure they are fully seated. If they are, I'd say keep an eye on it and let the dealer know on the next time in.
