Evora Vertical Door Kit

Hello Everyone! Checking to see if anybody would be interested in vertical/Lambo door kit for Evora's. Verticaldoors.com would custom make vertical door kits for the Evora if we can get a minimum of 10 people who would be interested in placing an order. They make a kit for the Exige/Elise. I have read several post from years ago as to peoplr not interested but I was checking to see if maybe there are new owners that may be interested.

As Whitney Houston once said to Bobby B. "Oh hell to the no!"

You'd be wasting your time gauging interests for these types of modifications on a Lotus board.

Not interested in vertical doors, but I think you'd get 10+ people interested in a far more reliable/serviceable door latch mechanism for the standard door orientation!
Snowphun, glb, squidward and 6 others like this.

Hello,

My wife and kid would be highly interested which makes me interested. Price and performance (seals correctly, etc.) would be determining factors.

I might be interested, of course depends on cost. I've talked to Vertical Doors before and they quoted me a very steep price so I backed off. I would like to see what an Evora looks like with it before I buy it.

I'm interested... Need to be reasonable, and I would need to see it first. Real pain in the ass getting in and out in Europe.

What is an 848 "RS" ? I've raced 848s, never heard of an RS model, especially as early in the production run as 2008.

And how often do you track your Lotus competitively again? With a transponder, driving at 10/10ths where weight makes a difference.

People can do whatever they want to their cars and that's just fine. For me, I feel Lotus cars are true focus oriented purest driver cars and things like bling wheels, scissor doors etc takes away from the so called Lotus philosophy.

It kills me a little when I see things like this or when folks put what I call "Fast and Furious" mods on these cars. To each their own, if you like it and think it's cool, kudos to you. However I do feel that most Lotus enthusiast shy away from these things do to the nature of the bunch.

Just my own opinion...which isn't right or wrong.

I don't mind installing this to my Evora if it is easier to get in/out, reliable, and doesn't add more than 10 lbs. I wished that the Evora has gull-wing door like the DeLorean initially. I would have pay an extra 10K for it. It will be so easy to get in/out and that would attract more buyers due to it exotic.

That's cool, but that sounds like your own build, just like everyone builds their own. There was no factory "RS" model for an 848.

Yep... Same as 749RS ...lol It's a supersport KiT bike. But explaining that to people that do not known the deal is difficult. So I just call it something that does not exist knowing folks like you will just know its not a Production spec 848.

Just like us getting into a debate on car racing and I told you I had a Subaru Impreza WRX. And you had your EVo all tuned up.. expecting a race with a Impreza... And I rock up with my N12 ... Which was built around GLP legality rules. You would be making the opposite argument. If Ducati sold a Club Spec bike and designated as such I would call its such if it fell within those specs... But we all know they don't so myself and others have just tacked on "RS" ...Meaning KiT bike.. which is pretty much whats going on.

What club do you race with?

Id be interested so long as they sealed well, allowed for the door to be opened the standard way and the vertical way and worked with the existing hardware and window functions. Not a bad idea especially considering how hard it can be to get in and out of the evora because of the large door sill. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to squeeze out of the car in a parking lot here in NYC with no space to open the door. A vertically opening door would resolve that! Purist or not, its more practical!

Did they Notice that
Im in a Lotus?

I would be interested in a reasonable vertical door kit just for clearance in parking lots. The door is long and it's often awkward to get in and out of the car if I don't have plenty of room on the driver side. I drive the car every day so this could be a nice convenience.
