Komo-Tec EV4-435 reflash for the Evora 400

Has anyone purchased this yet? I have been emailing with K-T and they say it will work with my US-spec car with 3rd cat delete and K&N filter but I would like to hear feedback from users if possible.

I really want to do a simple flash like this to unlock a little extra mid-range torque but this seems so expensive for just a tune. Hoping BOE will release something similar soon.

I would consider this tune but do they really send you cable to do yourself? My friend is doing the Komo Tec 460 kit on his and at first was suppose to send cable to do tune. Then at last moment they made him send ECU to Germany and he is still waiting for it to come back?

Wow well that is an interesting story, Redsled! Here is what Sascha at K-T emailed me yesterday morning:

"You connect the OBD cable to the vehicle and send us the current data status of the vehicle. Based on this we make the tune file and send it to you by email. You can then import this via cable and laptop to the ECU."

It is unclear to me if I will have to do datalogging (like you do for an Accessport or SCT tuner - which I don't mind doing at all) or if they just read some codes from it and then are able to send a tune.

On Series 1 cars the K-T and BOE Fastworks tunes used a cable that dedicates itself to the ECU - VIN. The later full depth tune required sending ECU in to BOE or through one of their subdistributors to be reprogrammed in house. I believe this is due to a suceptibility to brick the ECU is the load is not performed right. This is an ECU T6 and security locking issue that Lotus put in. Should not be an issue to make appointment to send in.

Installed the K-T 435 flash today. Quick 30 minute drive this morning felt really, really good. Will do 150 mile trip tomorrow. The car feels quite a bit snappier, from all revs. I've reflashed a number of cars and sportbikes over the years and this one feels really well-engineered - no stumbles, flatspots, CELs, or other weirdness. May try to do back to back OE 400 vs K-T 435 dyno runs at some point if I can find some time.

The process is dead simple - K-T sends you an OBD dongle and cable, you download a program onto your laptop and connect it to car with the cable, it reads your car's info then you take a screenshot of it and email it back to Komo Tec. A few days later an email came back with OE flash, 91 oct flash, and 93 oct flash. Takes less than 5 minutes to load the new flash onto the Evora.

I have the 460 tune and it's excellent a huge bump in torque in the mid range and it just keeps pulling all the way to redline highly recommended.

Will this tune work with US 91 octane? Will it obliterate the warranty?

Thinking of getting tune so now that you have had some more time in car how are you liking?

No doubt the warranty will be affected if they discover the flash but it (the warranty) can only be withdrawn if the modification is responsible for the issue or affects those parts of the system which are causing problems. In other words, a re-flash of your ECU may have relevance if the problem is related to the powertrain or such parts as may be related to the ECU's management but shouldn't be an issue if, for example, your AC compressor goes kablooie.

The problem arises when you and Lotus can't agree that your untucked seat cover or failed fuel pump or stick coil has something to do with the re-flash. You say it doesn't, they say it does and what results is a smelly pile of three day old fish to sort through.

I'm holding off on any power or intake/exhaust mods until the warranty expires just to be on the safe side. Then if it doesn't blow up Julian's, Zoomby's, Red Sled's or Champale's car I might go for it!

I dont think adding 30 hp is going to blow anything up 🙂. As far as warranty goes I added superchargers to both my R8's and my Huracan while still under warranty. My feeling is if you have a warranty you're not doing it right. My friend just picked up this car with Komo Tec 460 kit installed and he ius loving it. So I think next mod is the GRP CAI that he has on it.

Hey guys - I actually scheduled some dyno time for today and reflashed the car back to the stock 400 tune yesterday in anticipation of doing back-to-back runs. I drove it around for 30 minutes today before going to the dyno, did a pull (362whp in 4th, then later on 373whp in 3rd), then tried to switch over to the 435 tune and no matter what I tried, I was getting "unable to start communication with ECU" error. Removed then reloaded the K-T software onto my laptop, turned car off and on multiple times, etc, tried it every which way and nothing changed. Came home, hooked it up to my battery tender (every time I have changed the flash, it has been hooked up) and even tried a new OBD cable, but that didn't do the trick, either. I sent an email to K-T just now with copies of the screen shots.

For what it's worth, looking at other stock car dyno graphs at their shop it seems like the 400 is underrated. A stock 2008 BMW M3 put down 338whp and a 2017 GT350 put down 455whp.

One other issue that may or may not be related is that my airbag light comes on sometimes since I first did the 435 flash and even with the OE 400 flash today. It comes and goes but mainly stays on. Lord knows what's causing it.

UPDATE: after letting the car sit for an hour, I gave it one more try and voila it worked! I was able to download the 435 flash no problem. I've emailed the dyno guy to see when I can try again.

Great, will be interesting to see difference. Do you have an obd reader to clear airbag light?

The K-T software has a code reader but nothing shows up. Scratching head over here!

Troyus - you get both 91 and 93 oct tunes when you buy the kit.

Forgot to mention that my car has a K&N replacement panel filter and GRP 3rd cat delete. Oh, and a sweet Lathewerks shift knob that has to be worth at least 100hp.

Yea his car is pretty sick and sounds amazing. I ordered the 435 tune yesterday and today ordered the GRP CAI with K&N filters he has. I also did the same Larini exhaust along with a GRP decat pipe. We joked that we should be pretty close now since my car is lighter with carbon fiber hatch and I now weigh probably close to a hundred pounds less than him
