Do you have link to his build?

Redsled - keep us apprised of how the 435 kits works for you! Would also love to hear how your car ends up comparing to the 460 kit in a hypothetical side-by-side pull . . .

I'm going back to same dyno tomorrow to try out the 435 flash. Looks like atmospheric conditions will be roughly the same.

94 degrees Fahrenheit here today but got it on the dyno again (it was 100 degrees inside the dyno shed) He did 3 different 4th gear pulls - highest was 391whp. The dyno operator was impressed. He is going to email me the charts - basically it was about 30whp and 30ft lbs gains with just the Komo-Tec 435 reflash.

For comparison, right before me he finished custom tuning a 2016 Subaru STI with IC, exhaust, intake and it only put down 280whp and 325ft lbs.

I still have the airbag light so I need to figure that out.

That is pretty good and with around 10% drivetrain loss that would put you around 440hp at crank. Will get my car to a dyno when I'm done, I will have tune tomorrow and CAI will be going in next week. Will also get my friend to bring his. What type of dyno was used? some like Mustangs read low compared to Dynojets. Also one thing I have noticed when doing tunes on car is it's not all about the hp numbers, because of other changes that are car will feel better and more responsive without needing big number gains

It's not just the 30 hp that's the issue. OEMs tune the fuel & spark curves to give a safety margin to pre-ignition & to allow for poor fuel quality.

Drivetrain losses would be closer to 15% .. tire deflection, wheel bearings, differential, gear mess two shafts driven of ring gear, 4th gear driving input shaft, bearings ...

I doubt it too and I’m interested in tuning so there ya go. But the question wasn’t if it’s safe or not. It was if Lotus would honor a related problem under warrant. I don’t know but in the odd event things went horribly wrong I doubt you’d get much sympathy from the factory.

Dinan and APR have replacement warranties they give you if you buy a tune from them which is reassuring.

The warranty has value to me. My car was one of those that needed a replacement blower but I was just joking about the blowing up part. They probably won’t!

PS @ Champale. I appreciate your documentation of this. Tunes for our cars are most welcome as is the info.

Redsled - it is a Dynojet dyno and I have included some other reference points from other cars they have dyno'd. Also, looking at the picture with all of the cars, as the owner of a Focus RS myself I love seeing one included!

lotusquacious - you are very welcome! This is fun stuff for me and I am curious to see the results that other people get. My seat of the pants feeling that the car was making more power was correct so that was nice to confirm. I still want to probably change the gearing. And get this stupid airbag light to turn off!

If you're ordering this in the US I assume that removes VAT and leaves the price around $1700 USD?

With Fedx shipping was a little under $1,700. One reason I like the tune is that I live in an area where 93 octane is at every gas station so might as well take advantage of that

Dynojets reading high isnít always true anymore. The old and original 248c dynojet was the one that was known to be ego boosting.

Their newer dynoís are not like that, they produce similar numbers vs mustang, dyno dynamics etc......

However itís always difficult to compare different dynoís on different days, different vehicles etc. Best way is to do a before and after mod run where the dyno is setup the same. Years ago at a car convention the same dyno 2 years in a row (mobile 248c dynojet) has a 25% drop in power the second year. Every car at the show did the same 25% drop vs the year prior..

You should compare the power increase, not the max power numbers.... but I know, not as much fun

1200 miles on my 460 tune so far and 0 issues. We asked about the 475 tune on the they have listed but at the time the required intake was not available and they wont accept the GRP intake as a replacement.

Around the time I need my first clutch I might do another round of upgrades but for now I am super happy with this build.

Impressive result and as advertised.

It does look like Lotus has rated the car conservatively. Taking drivetrain and ancillary losses into account and the dyno at its word, your car seems to be putting out more than 400HP at the crank in stock trim.
