I agree and can already imagine an excuse for a LEO. "Sorry, I washed the car and forgot to put it back on", and then pull it out of the trunk on the spot, eliminating a fix-it ticket.
I tried one of those tow hook mounted ones and just thought it ruined the look of my 400 but something like this is perfect for those rare occasions when I need a plate.
That looks great... how can I get one just like it? I'm on the other side of the country so no worries.... <img src="https://www.lotustalk.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" />
You need to email them and request a custom bracket. maybe just mention Lotus Evora custom shipped just last week.
I would make some tweaks... keep the plate bracket at 90 degrees, I tried to have a slight angle and ended up bending it back myself... I also had to put a washer spacer under it... would be better if they gave you a 1/8 th inch spacer that is bigger than just a washer.
Is this something we can order from them directly based on your dimensions/template? I wouldn't mind throwing my front plate in my trunk and having it readily available if I get pulled over.
Luckily Ohio is eliminating the front plate requirement next year...so I'm avoiding even putting a plate on the front at all. Its also only a secondary offense (would need to be pulled over for something else first), so I've been avoiding drilling any holes or anything...if they hadn't just passed that new law I would have definitely been interested in this, its a great idea!
This is great. I am in NJ too and was looking for a solution just like this. I only saw this position on European cars and have been holding off purchasing something until I saw this. Thank You for sharing!
I got an email back from Big Mike's and they said they were going to make sure the design is 100% perfect for the Evoras before selling more. Will hopefully hear back soon.
ok all, I remeasured his questions, marked up my prototype and will send back tomorrow.
He is trying to bend the rods to get past the front black lip which drops a little below the body color (on the 400), then bend back up to sit higher in the front (this will help with driveways).
This may take some back and forth but will be worth it... he said he got many emails (from this forum and Facebook group).
As for the S1, measure the space between the front bolts. The 400 is 11 3/4 inches on center and that centerline is 6 inches away from the front lip. If that is the same, it should work for both.
A good part of living in Tennessee is....no plate in front of your car. A bad part of living in Tennessee is a plate in front of you full of steamed okra.
I just got back from vacation and installed the modified plate they sent... it's spot on.
For those that were waiting, you should be good to order now.
I live 20 minutes from Sho N Stop. I called them today and I'll stop by next week with my S1. Looks like it would be perfect for my car.
