Had a custom bracket made... comes on and off in literally 2 seconds and uses existing bolts... no drilling at all.

You know we have to ask, what's the weight?

I agree and can already imagine an excuse for a LEO. "Sorry, I washed the car and forgot to put it back on", and then pull it out of the trunk on the spot, eliminating a fix-it ticket.

Exactly!

I tried one of those tow hook mounted ones and just thought it ruined the look of my 400 but something like this is perfect for those rare occasions when I need a plate.

I had it charged with helium but didn’t want to over do it... too much float would mess up the down force.

Have one on my GTS. Centered is the way to go for most cars and it gives you the warning rub sooner too.

That looks great... how can I get one just like it? I'm on the other side of the country so no worries.... :D

Is this something we can order from them directly based on your dimensions/template? I wouldn't mind throwing my front plate in my trunk and having it readily available if I get pulled over.

I forgot to include their website... they are on your side... near San Jose

https://bigmikesperformanceparts.com/

You need to email them and request a custom bracket. maybe just mention Lotus Evora custom shipped just last week.

I would make some tweaks... keep the plate bracket at 90 degrees, I tried to have a slight angle and ended up bending it back myself... I also had to put a washer spacer under it... would be better if they gave you a 1/8 th inch spacer that is bigger than just a washer.

Looks good. I have one of these on another car. Nice solution; but one tip: make sure to keep the pin lubed.

I really love this idea. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to inquire about one for my Exige.

Luckily Ohio is eliminating the front plate requirement next year...so I'm avoiding even putting a plate on the front at all. Its also only a secondary offense (would need to be pulled over for something else first), so I've been avoiding drilling any holes or anything...if they hadn't just passed that new law I would have definitely been interested in this, its a great idea!

Would love to get one of these for an exige. Will have to see if I can find bolts there that'll work.

This is great. I am in NJ too and was looking for a solution just like this. I only saw this position on European cars and have been holding off purchasing something until I saw this. Thank You for sharing!

I got an email back from Big Mike's and they said they were going to make sure the design is 100% perfect for the Evoras before selling more. Will hopefully hear back soon.

Yep got the same email, looks like they are taking Dogtag suggestion

Are the mount points the same for the S1 cars? I dig this

dogtag114 06-17-2019 08:05 PM

ok all, I remeasured his questions, marked up my prototype and will send back tomorrow.

He is trying to bend the rods to get past the front black lip which drops a little below the body color (on the 400), then bend back up to sit higher in the front (this will help with driveways).

This may take some back and forth but will be worth it... he said he got many emails (from this forum and Facebook group).

As for the S1, measure the space between the front bolts. The 400 is 11 3/4 inches on center and that centerline is 6 inches away from the front lip. If that is the same, it should work for both.
