Got some goodies to install later today. I figured with the new (stupid) CA exhaust law in effect, I'd rather throw that money into my car instead of the state's general fund, so out goes the Plack-esque straight pipe, and in goes the valved Larini V2.

A Larini Evora ClubSport Exhaust with Valve Control arrived mid December. Sadly the hanger rods were different diameter and the bushings would only slide onto the smaller rod. I do not have a drill press. Hope to get another steel bushing (they look like an empty spool of thread) that will slide onto a " diameter hanger rod one of these days.

Waiting for the needed part is not a big deal. I cannot drive the car (snow/salt) or work on it in an unheated garage as it will be below zero around here all day tomorrow. Perhaps next spring.

Rattling Door lock pin fixed

Finally thought of a simple, light, easy to install, solution to that door pin rattling in my ear with every bump and drum beat. A clear straw split with a razor blade slid down the pin. Problem solved!

So the hanger rods on your Larini weren't the same diameter on each side? That's bizarre. I didn't need the bushings, as my 11 has the smaller hanger holes.

It was a rather simple install, except they forgot to include a clamp to hold the tips onto the muffler (not the spherical clamp, the one on the slip fitting). Luckily I found a cheap pipe clamp I had and it'll hold until I receive the T-bar clamp I ordered.

Lotus used two different OD hangers and thus different ID bushings through the years. You should be able to get a bushing exchange from your Larini vendor.

I just had my dealer order that Larini exhaust yesterday, I wonder if I should tell him to check this?

I put my front undertray back on so I could go for a drive tomorrow. Did a bunch of googling on the Evora steering rack to discover that the US LHD rack is the same rack as a RHD Honda Accord Type R. They put it in backwards!

So there's no cheap substitute for the Evora steering rack because you have to order it from overseas anyway.

I bought a new one! I traded my S1 for an Audi R8, then realized it was a case of don't meet your hero. So last week I traded it in for a new 2018 black metallic, with a manual transmission. Is it bad I'm already planning mods?

I have not even seen my car yet since it's in CA and needs to be trucked to MA and have already ordered a Larini Exhaust and Carbon Fiber steering wheel. Would like to get some more stuff on order but not a lot available yet for 400

Congratulations, tye bo! I have a 2017 in the same color (also a manual) - the color looks great in all conditions and lighting.

Would be curious to hear your thoughts about the R8 because it is a car I have toyed with over the years but never have driven much less owned.

I'm another former R8 owner, had a 2009 V8 and 2012 V10. Both were sticks and both VF Supercharged. What R8 did you have? Pretty tough comparing a Lotus to a R8. I would be on my 3rd R8 as they really are one of the best cars I have ever driven but decided to give it's big brother a chance, Huracan, and of course that has also been modded with a supercharger. But I'm looking forward to adding in the 400 since I miss driving a stick

Thanks Champale! I didn't realize until I saw in in the sun its a very dark grey since there is sooo much metallic in the paint. R8 comments below.

Redsled, I had a 2017 V10 with the DCT, so the first thing that I missed, but didn't realize when I bough it, was the engagement of the transmission. Yes, I could use the flappy paddles and yes, it shifts faster than I can think about shifting, but it wasn't as fun or fulfilling. Next was the ergonomics, here again my 10 minute test drive wasn't enough for me to know that being in that car for an hour or more would cause me severe leg pain. I tried every combination of seating positions that I could come up with, and it was never comfortable. Then the steering feel, I missed how chatty the Evora's steering is, I know everything that is going on and the Audi felt numb. On top of all of that is the cost of everything, since everything has a supercar tax, it just isn't fun knowing that it's going to cost a fortune. Also, the fact that I had to take it back to the dealer eight times in the five months I owned it, half of the time in my possession, it was at the dealer. All of that being said that sound is unforgettable, the acceleration amazing, but I only got to enjoy those 3.4 seconds at a time, which the novelty wore off quickly.

TL;DR: I thought the car was right for me, but I was wrong.

Redsled - wow I bet that those were a lot of fun - and the Huracan is probably even better! The E400 is going to be numerous steps down in terms of power but it is a real joy to drive. Fast, slow, straight roads, twisty roads, it doesn't matter because it is just plain old fun.

tye bo - thank you for that info. I am 6'2" and have read that taller people have trouble fitting in the R8s. Sorry to hear about your issues with the car, too. I am sure that was frustrating! Hopefully your Evora will be less difficult!

Champale, I'm 6'1" and I HIGHLY encourage you to spend time in the driver's seat prior to plopping down hard earned money. It baffles me that the Evora chassis is able to have more leg room than the R8... I got frustrated and went back to a known good!

I'm 6'1" but pretty comfortable in my R8's or now Huracan. Evora 400 has way more legroom because it has a backseat that allows seats to go back much further than a two seat car. Even though my Huracan is extremely quick you are right that that does get old. I'm really looking forward to playing in the 400 since my favorite driving is on the back roads and twisties,

My daily is a Trackhawk so I also enjoy big hp straightline stupidity! Supercharging a sports car that already starts with a gazillion hp must be hilarious to drive!

Before I had decided on an Evora, I drove 90 miles to the closest Lotus dealership and to sit in an Evora and was shocked to discover that I fit perfectly in it (I couldn't drive it because they had removed the battery and it was dead). I actually had never even driven an Evora when I agreed to buy one 900 miles away - but my instincts were correct and the car proved to be a blast to drive. 400 miles (some in the Colorado mountains) on the 1st day, then 500 highway miles home the next day and it was unbelievably comfortable, quiet, and easy to fly along at triple digits most of the way. The car just is such a treat to drive and you guys will hopefully feel the same.
